Job Description

As a business analyst, you will be responsible for leading development teams through the evolution of the Segic platform, guided by the business requirements of our current and future clients. You will serve as a liaison between the Product Owner (PO) and the development teams in order to ensure that everyone has the same understanding of needs and the functionality to be implemented. Using your knowledge of group insurance, you will work with your team to ensure that all solutions delivered are high-quality and meet all requirements and standards. Lastly, working with the PO, you will contribute to the innovative advancement of Segic’s product vision.

Duties

  • Work with the Product Owner to develop the product vision, follow the vision and communicate it to development teams
  • Analyse client needs and work with the PO and systems analysts to develop innovative solutions
  • Define and document business rules
  • Analyse and understand the impacts of proposed changes to the various components of the Segic platform
  • Guide and direct development teams in their analyses, and resolve functional problems that arise mid-project so that the proposed solutions are coherent and account for user needs, system architecture and applicable constraints
  • Participate in testing to ensure that newly developed solutions meet needs and are aligned with the vision
  • Take charge of the product backlog for your sector, ensuring that it is documented, well managed and maintained
  • Share knowledge with other business analysts and, when needed, help train end users
  • Work in close collaboration with the support and development teams to resolve major production problems
  • Perform industry monitoring, keep knowledge up to date and stay current with changes in the group insurance industry

Qualifications

•    College diploma or bachelor’s degree in computer science or actuarial science, or other relevant training
•    Extensive knowledge of the group insurance industry (administration and/or claims processing)
•    Minimum three years experience in IT or as a systems analyst or business analyst, ideally in agile mode
•    Team worker with excellent interpersonal skills
•    Excellent analysis and synthesis skills, at ease with numbers, demonstrated logical approach
•    Ability to diagram processes and ideas
•    Ability to articulate and present the vision, to think beyond the current state and to work in innovation mode
•    Expert Excel and Visio user
•    Strong oral and written communication skills (French and English)
•    Experience writing testing strategies, scenarios and cases and in preparing datasets
•    High capacity for learning and openness to challenges
•    Ability to adapt rapidly to changes
•    Client relations experience
•    Available to visit clients occasionally
