Job Description
The role of the Quality Assurance Technician will include developing, implementing, and maintaining the Food Safety and Quality Culture, enforcing GMPs, SOPs, PPE, HACCP and SSOPs. He/she will need to have manufacturing experience. Being bilingual is a plus (not required). Being able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Must be an excellent communicator as speaking with all members of the company is necessary, ability to review and write procedures. Machining experience is very helpful.
Reports to: Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager
Shift: 10a-12p start time
Schedule: Must be flexible to work weekends
Location: Denver, CO
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leading and training our production teams in seafood and meat quality, food safety, cleaning/ sanitation goals and expectations.
- Inspection of the receiving process to check incoming product quality, daily revision for best by dates of product in storage, daily reports to key members of the team
- Review improvement opportunities and implement plans when necessary; root cause evaluations, coaching/discipline, training efforts, process improvements, CAPA closures, record keeping, etc.
- Training new hires as well as seasoned employees in food quality standards, company, customer specifications, and food safety processes.
- Lead the weekly Quality Meeting
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing situations and multitask on several issues at once
- Acts as a point of contact for all quality issues.
- Review customer product returns and work toward validating, reducing, and eliminating with the teams involved in this process
- Back up to the Food Safety QA Manger, following through on all food safety duties.
- Review SOPs and SSOPs to make sure these documents are up to date
- Review and update specification sheets as needed
- Daily quality checks on the production floor
- Communicate clearly with production, maintenance, receiving, and warehouse, procurement, sales and applicable teams
- Monitor and enforce adherence to GMPs, HACCP, and SSOPs
- Maintain clean, organized workspaces aligned with food safety standards
- Conduct equipment swab tests to confirm cleanliness of equipment
- Conduct calibration of production equipment at appropriate frequency
- Coordinate communication between manufacturing associates and QA personnel
- Conduct environmental testing for pathogens
- Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in food production and bachelor’s degree in related field is a plus
- Experience with quality methodologies such as Internal Auditing, Corrective & Preventive Action and Problem-Solving Disciplines
- Supervisory experience/skills are essential
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance procedures in an industrial environment including SQF, HACCP, GMP and SSOP
- Experience with implementing and documenting quality systems in a manufacturing setting
- Solid Computer skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
