Your Impact on Our Business: 

The Purchasing Manager has a critical role within the company and serves on the Leadership Team.   You will be responsible for leading all procurement activity, a high-performing team of four, and supporting the aggressive and successful growth plans of the company.  This position is a member of the Leadership Team and advises the Leadership and Executive Teams on all relevant issues.  Through a purposeful and structured approach, the Purchasing Manager provides the leadership and vision to inspire action on responsible sourcing, and cost control. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Represent Purchasing on the Leadership Team, and lead and take part in company-wide strategic and tactical initiatives as required. 

  • Develop, coach and mentor direct reports with a strong emphasis on continual improvement, skill development, high quality work, teamwork, and active engagement.
  • Develop sourcing strategies and negotiate contracts for core (high volume) categories. 
  • Work with the Senior Business Analyst to track costs and deliver company goals on cost reduction and value delivery. 
  • Lead the Demand Planning process to ensure effective coordination, 2-way communication with sales team, and ensure products meet requirements of price, quality, sustainability and timing.
  • Manage division of activities and accountabilities between members of the Purchasing team to ensure effective workload allocation and maximize use of available skills. 
  • Be a go-to person for the sales and purchasing teams to provide market and product expertise and source new items as required (in line with new product process). 
  • Lead processes to meet sustainability goals of the company including supporting industry-wide sustainability initiatives. 
  • Serve as a primary representative of the company within our vendor community and project a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community.

The primary function of the Purchasing Manager is to provide management and development of the Purchasing team and ensure all necessary purchasing activities are performed on time, to a high standard. The Purchasing Manager will work with the team to develop and implement sourcing strategies to optimize value for Seattle Fish, aligned to our sustainability mission.  The role will lead the team in providing seafood expertise and will ensure suppliers are held to the highest standards of quality, food safety, sustainability and associated documentation. The Purchasing Manager will represent Purchasing on the Seattle Fish Leadership Team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred 
  • Knowledge of and passion for the food and hospitality industries – seafood expertise a significant plus. 
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to convert strategies into tangible results. 
  • Experience of managing teams in a fast-moving and dynamic environment. 
  • Experience in use of ERP systems, Excel, and other relevant analytics tools 
  • Excellent oral and written communication, with a proven ability to build consensus and alignment. 
  • Strong customer service ethos and high level of personal accountability and responsiveness.

Compensation:

Compensation for this role is $80,000.00-$95,000.00 and is based on experience.
