Job Description

As member of the project team you will cooperate with in-house R&D experts and contracted manufacturing resources.

SBGS is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to take a position in the team of developers who are designing the new generation of recording nodes for SBGS.

The nodes will be deployed at 3000m depth for weeks and shall show extreme reliability during this period while they will record a dense set of seismic data. The nodes handling involves utilisation of ROVs. The deck facilities are fully automated. This is a full stack development position building ground up systems that manage our data acquisition. You will typically have to:

  • Analyze, define and document mechanical and interface requirements
  • Manage external engineering resources ensuring all project deliverables are met
  • Perform internal and external design reviews

·         Work with the Test and Integration Engineer to develop verification test plans

·         Contribute to the CTO technology watch function and participate in protecting SBGS intellectual property

·         Interface with internal and external project stakeholders

·         Manage engineering change and defect reporting

Required core competencies

Hard skills:

·         A thorough understanding, and experience, in the design and manufacture of objects produced in large quantities

·         Strong background in subsea pressure housing design. Including the manufacturing processes of both metals and plastics, corrosion resistance and sealing solutions

·         Seven or more years developing and integrating mechanical components

·         Strong competency in 3D modelling and PDM systems. Primarily Solidworks

·         Familiarity with automated handling systems

·         Experience with cooperating in a project team

Soft skills:

·         Effective oral and written communication

·         Availability to travel internationally for short durations

·         Familiarity with system engineering methodology

Experience and academics

Engineering degree with 7 – 10 years of experience.
