Are you ready to blend your expertise in product management with the excitement of the outdoor industry?

The Product Manager is ultimately responsible for the success of Sea to Summit’s short, medium and long-term product range. They are guiding new product direction and assigning priorities for design and development while ensuring their product line maintains carryover relevance across a global distribution and supply chain network. They need to manage with a commercial mindset carefully balancing the company’s priorities to ensure the business is exceeding targets while offering easy-to-understand product solutions to existing and new Sea to Summit consumers.

The breadth of this role requires the Product Manager to be a confident professional, who is comfortable leading multi-disciplinary teams, including materials, design, development, marketing and compliance. They appreciate the importance of grounding a product lifecycle against a broader business strategy while juggling interests from internal and external stakeholders.

They have a keen analytical interest in identifying gaps and opportunities within the Sea to Summit range and clearly articulate these needs to the materials, compliance, design and development teams. They should take delight in realising the known and unknown demands of consumers and bring tangible, clear solutions to internal stakeholders, external customers and ultimately users who expect premium products make their experience in the outdoors more enjoyable.
 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for setting and maintaining the product line list and ensuring financial targets are being met.
  • Create Product Briefs that provide clear and focused direction for New Product Development teams.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through the New Product Development process and ensure all timelines are met.
  • Clearly communicate the product’s features and benefits to a global marketing and sales teams.
  • Keep a close eye on current market trends across the global outdoor market to ensure our products remains relevant to consumer needs.
  • Stay informed of the different channels through which Sea to Summit products are sold and understand the different nuances of those different channels.
  • Analyse competitor’s products and identify points of differentiation that can help Sea to Summit stand out from the crowd.

Qualifications

Experience and Key Personal Qualities

  • 7+ years of experience working in a New Product Development environment, preferably with a sports or outdoor background.
  • A strong personal interest in outdoor activities.
  • Great work ethic, and demonstrated capacity to lead cross-functional team
  • Good financial fluency.
  • Preferably experience using a Product Lifecycle Management software tool, such as Centric.
  • Good writing and editing skills, combined with confident presentation and public speaking.
