Job Description

Reporting to the Risk, Programs and Cyber Managing Director, this is a leadership role to grow and build our practice and team and ensure high-quality delivery to our clients.  Working with a high performing, talented team, you will help a broad client base effectively manage their most important risks. 

Client Engagement and Delivery 

  • Lead delivery of complex governance, risk, program assurance and internal audit services across our client base 

  • Help clients with line 1, 2 and 3 transformation, modernisation and digitisation programs 

  • Deliver clear, actionable insights, recommendations to senior client stakeholders when conducting risk advisory and assurance work. 

  • Deliver value adding GRC and assurance technology and 'as a service' solutions and services. 

  • Provide insight and confidence over the delivery of transformation programs. 

Leadership and Team Development 

  • Lead and inspire multi-disciplinary teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and excellence. 

  • Mentor and develop team members through on-the-job training, coaching, and career management. 

  • Build local and national capability in governance, risk, and internal audit practices. 

  • Share technical insights, industry developments, and thought leadership to elevate team expertise. 

Business Development and Strategy 

  • Identify and convert business development opportunities aligned with our purpose and values. 

  • Grow your personal brand and network. 

  • Contribute to the preparation of Requests for Tender (RFTs), proposals, and thought-leadership materials. 

  • Develop deep sectoral or subject-matter expertise to support market growth and innovation. 

  • Build relationships across Scyne Advisory’s broader capabilities, including Transformation, Risk, Programs & Cyber, and Commercial, Finance & Infrastructure, to deliver holistic client solutions. 

Qualifications

Technical and Professional Experience 

  • 10–15 years of demonstrated experience in governance, risk, compliance, and internal audit, preferably in the public sector or professional services. 

  • Proven ability to manage large-scale audit or risk transformation programs and deliver meaningful outcomes 

  • Deep understanding of governance, risk management, internal audit frameworks, and methodologies. 

  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, clients, and teams. 

  • An active and curious approach to automation and AI in delivery of new solutions to clients 

  • Highly desirable experience with risk management in major transformation programs.  

Qualifications and Capabilities 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and certifications (e.g. CAANZ, CPA, CIA, Risk Management Institute of Australasia, or Governance Institute). 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly. 

  • Proven commercial acumen and ability to identify and develop client opportunities. 

  • Continuous learning mindset — staying abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and risks impacting clients and our practice.
