Job Description
Provides administrative support for all levels of faculty and staff, primarily to one or more Principal Investigators (PI) as well as to lab personnel. Size of group supported varies, but is generally fewer than 18 people and does not usually consider Visiting Investigators or Scientific Collaborators in this count. Assignment may include assisting a higher level Administrative Assistant.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Minimum three years directly related experience as an administrative assistant in an environment such as medical, research, educational or legal where duties included preparing detailed and specific forms (i.e. grants, contracts, legal documents); formatting documents including inserting graphs and references; making extensive travel/meeting arrangements; supplies ordering and budgeting; reading, understanding and interpreting lengthy instructions; and independently accomplishing multiple tasks coordinating multiple sources. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Effective organization, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills. Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint) and Adobe Acrobat skills. Ability to learn EndNote, Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop. Experience preferred. Professional level typing (60 wpm) and editing skills. Strong familiarity with PC and/or Macintosh. Experience tracking, reconciling and reporting budgets and accounting expenditures. Skilled in the use of dictation/transcription system. Shorthand skills helpful. Ability to work in a laboratory environment.

This position works in a clinical laboratory environment. Performs repetitive motions such as grasping, rotating, twisting, and reaching with fingers, hands and arms requiring strength, dexterity and stamina. Must be able to sit or stand for several hours. Must be able to bend and stoop. With or without corrective lenses, must be able to see.
