Job Description

Schumacher Electric Corp., the industry leader of battery chargers in the automotive aftermarket has a Compliance Engineering opportunity available. As a Compliance Engineer, you will lead the agency work to aid other engineers to design and develop consumer battery charging products and accessories to meet requirements.

Location: Greater Dallas / Fort Worth Area

The primary responsibility is to obtain and maintain safety agency approvals for domestic and international compliance for all facilities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with domestic and international safety compliance agencies such as UL, CSA, IEC, FCC, Energy Star, DOE, etc. to receive required certification for new products. Duties include developing certification test plans, requesting and evaluating testing (thermal, mechanical, electrical, EMC) as needed to obtain third party certification.
  • Oversees internal agency required testing and schedule third party testing as required. May assign work and direct the activities of engineering support staff as required.
  • Works with production facilities and suppliers to assure compliance with standards and procedures.  Resolves any variations in a timely fashion.
  • Works with engineers and project managers to analyze, develop and recommend design approaches required to meet agency requirements for new or improved products.
  • Assists with product design, prototyping and testing.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of available standards and test procedures.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of equipment listings and calibration certificates.

Qualifications

BSEE, BSME or equivalent work experience.  Experience with compliance agencies.  Good mechanical aptitude a plus.  Must be able to analyze components and datasheets, communicate proficiently both verbally and in writing, manage multiple projects at once, and comprehend engineering drawings, diagrams and test standards.
