Business Development Manager
- Full-time
- City: Australia (Western Australia)
Company Description
Schréder is continuing to grow, and we are looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to help expand our presence across the Western Australian market.
With over 50 years in the Australian market, Schréder is a recognised and respected name in lighting, known for quality products, strong technical capability and trusted customer partnerships across commercial, infrastructure, exterior, smart city, sports, roadway and project-based environments.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of a growing market, work across a broad product portfolio and represent an established global brand with the backing, capability and product range to deliver major commercial lighting projects.
Job Description
As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities across Western Australia.
This is not a narrow single-product sales role. You will have the opportunity to represent Schréder’s broader lighting portfolio, including Roadway, Infrastructure, Urban decorative, Sports, Transport, Solar, Smart City and project-based lighting solutions, along with linear lighting and bespoke commercial lighting capability.
You will work closely with contractors, wholesalers, consultants, architects, lighting designers, engineers, councils, project stakeholders and internal technical teams to identify opportunities, build relationships and convert projects into successful outcomes.
The role will suit someone who enjoys being in the market, building relationships, opening doors and creating traction across multiple customer channels.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop and grow Schréder’s presence across the WA market.
- Identify and secure new commercial lighting and project opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with contractors, wholesalers, consultants, architects, engineers, lighting designers, councils and key project stakeholders.
- Promote Schréder solutions across a broad product portfolio.
- Work across commercial, infrastructure, roadway, urban, sports, transport, smart city, solar, linear lighting and bespoke project opportunities.
- Manage customer relationships from early engagement through to project specification, tender support and handover.
- Work closely with internal teams including lighting design, category management, engineering, estimating, projects, customer service and operations.
- Use CRM to manage customer activity, pipeline, project updates and sales opportunities.
- Provide market feedback to help shape product focus, customer strategy and growth opportunities in WA.
- Represent Schréder professionally in the market and build long-term customer trust.
About You
You are a proactive and commercially minded sales professional who enjoys building relationships and creating opportunities.
You may come from commercial lighting, architectural lighting, electrical products, infrastructure, construction, wholesale, contractor-facing sales or specification-led sales. What matters most is that you understand project-based selling, can build trust with customers and are confident working across technical or solution-based products.
You will be someone who is comfortable getting out in front of customers, asking the right questions, following up consistently and working with internal teams to deliver the right solution.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong negotiating skills and commercial acumen.
- Experience in business development, account management, project sales or specification sales.
- Background in lighting, electrical, construction, infrastructure, building products, architectural products or a related technical sales environment.
- Strong relationship-building skills across contractors, wholesalers, consultants, architects, engineers, project stakeholders or end users.
- Ability to identify opportunities, manage a pipeline and convert customer relationships into commercial outcomes.
- Confidence working with technical products and project requirements.
- Strong communication, follow-up and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, self-driven approach with the ability to manage a territory.
- Comfortable using CRM systems and maintaining accurate customer and pipeline information.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal technical, design and project teams.
Highly Regarded
- Experience in commercial or architectural lighting.
- Existing relationships in the WA contractor, wholesaler, consultant, infrastructure or specification market.
- Understanding of lighting projects, tenders, specifications, electrical contractors, councils or commercial construction channels.
- Experience selling across multiple product categories or customer segments.
- Exposure to linear lighting, bespoke lighting, roadway, urban, sports, transport, solar or smart city solutions.
