Field Service Engineer Technician

Company Description

Basic Function:

Work with customers and/or contractor supervision to install new machines and retool

projects. Debug and start-up new machine installation and retool projects, perform service calls

on customer machines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Understands the work to be done (The Performance Plan) and is technically competent.

 Plans his work and the work of others, to meet schedules and budgets.

 Communicates the plan and progress with customer and Ingersoll.

 Performs the technical work required or supervises other Ingersoll employees in the

performance of the required tasks.

 Creates a good impression of Ingersoll to the customer.

 Have a good image, professional, competent and efficient.

 Have good appearance and proper conduct in the customer's plant.

 Instructs customer in operation of installed machines.

 Reports market opportunities.

Skills:

 Must understand all levels of production machine equipment.

 Must be able to direct other people and work with the customer.

 Must be able to diagnose machine problems and make recommendations to solve them.

 Verbal and written communication skills.

 Must be technically competent in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic areas.

Qualifications

Education:

 High school education (or GED) with specialized knowledge obtained through less than

one year education or training obtained on-the- job or through other training.

 Previous completion of R&M Awareness Course required, or completion within one year

of job assignment.

Experience:

 Five to ten years experience in a similar field.

Other:

 Previous machine installation and service work required.

 Previous supervision experience helpful.

 Must be willing to travel domestic and foreign.
