Scalable Capital was built in the cloud from day one. Our services currently run on various AWS services like ECS, Fargate and Lambda and utilize a multi account strategy.
We embrace a DevOps culture where the development teams manage their own CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure for their services themselves. Our Site Reliability Engineering Team focuses on a reusable and modular infrastructure to enable the development teams to deploy and operate services in the cloud productively and securely.  

Job Description

As the Engineering Manager, you will

  • Grow and manage a team of 4-8 engineers, helping them shape their individual careers and grow the team to become self-organized, agile and autonomous

  • Contribute and establish engineering best practices with the team (e.g. Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, Agile Methodologies, etc.) to improve quality and time-to-market

  • Continuously improve our cloud setup. This includes recurring analysis of our AWS infrastructure as well as migrations between services

  • Be a critical part of our engineering leadership team where you will work closely with other Engineering Managers, Architects and the Head of Engineering to shape and implement our technical vision

  • Be responsible for improving infrastructure and deployment automation using tools like Terraform, Jenkins and GitHub Actions

  • Support our business and software development teams to monitor and operate our AWS cloud platform including logs, metrics, tracing, and security

Qualifications

As The Engineering Manager, we expect you will bring to the table

  • Profound professional experience in cloud technologies, using public cloud providers, especially AWS

  • An Excellent grasp of cloud-native patterns and methodologies as well as the integration of best practices into the team

  • Skills in communicating with empathy, influence and inspiration as well as in dealing with and solving conflicts

  • Deep understanding of at least one general purpose programming language

  • A degree in a relevant field of study (e.g. computer science, engineering, sciences) or work experience in a role that typically requires a university degree

  • A passion for automating and improving processes

  • Full professional proficiency in either English or German and the ability to communicate concisely in an international English-speaking environment

  • Experience in balancing business-related and technical requirements and regularly achieving consensus amongst other teams and departments

  • Previous experience in networking, monitoring, access tracing, and compliance frameworks is an advantage
