Job Description

The Senior Product Manager (SPM) is a key leadership role responsible for leading a product team to deliver financial results, growth, and increased market share. 

The SPM incorporates customer and business requirements to develop market leading product strategies and manage their execution by leading their team to coordinate across all business functions; to developing, managing, and improving business financial performance.   

This role will lead dynamic product categories, expanding our existing portfolio with new technologies and applications and exciting product launches.

Core Responsibilities   

  • Develop go-to-market strategy; including channel and product differentiation strategies
  • Identify consumer and retailer customer needs; use insights to segment the market, develop product strategy and customer value proposition 
  • Own and drive key financial metrics including revenue and profitability.   Make financial tradeoffs and manage risk 
  • Manage product line profitability including leading New Product Introduction (NPI) and Total Cost Out (TCO) plans. 
  • Assemble and lead cross-functional teams (Technology, Supply Chain, Marketing etc.) to execute product strategy while fostering constructive conflict and debate that aids in continuous improvements  
  • Manage product lifecycle from concept to retirement including generational transitions, legislation phase outs and shifts in the market 
  • Understand and conduct analysis of competitive capabilities and determine impacts to strategy 
  • Work closely with the marketing team to develop and maintain key sales support material: product specifications, online content, point of purchase displays, competitive cross-references, technical application guides, etc.   
  • Consider and leverage partnerships and technical innovation to generate marketplace differentiation 
  • Take an active role in supporting the sales team in customer meetings, bids and presentations 
  • Develop plans to ensure product line goals meet or exceed business plan metrics.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, marketing or related discipline from an accredited university or college 
  • Minimum 10 years Product Management experience.
  • CPG experience a plus 
  • Strong ability to work with cross-functional teams, help create consensus, and drive execution 
  • Proven ability to pull together diverse individuals with different goals and facilitate productive discussion and action 
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate 
  • Thorough understanding or the ability to quickly learn about the project or product being developed 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements consistent with office work such as prolonged periods sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and lifting 15 pounds at times 

DESIRED

  • MBA/Business background 
  • Consumer product experience a plus  
  • Project Management, Supply Chain and /or Pricing experience a plus  
  • Entrepreneurial spirit for fast innovation
