What you will do

• Identify suitable EMEA business development opportunities in the ophthalmic market, including distribution, in-licensing, M&A, and out-licensing.
• Collaborate with various departments like R&D, regulatory affairs, market access and marketing to assess opportunities from scientific, regulatory, and commercial perspectives. This includes developing commercial forecasts and business cases.
• Systematically report and track business development (BD) activities and interactions with third parties
• Lead and support cross-functional projects and due diligence activities in EMEA with a strong emphasis on project management and a collaborative approach.
• Prepare business cases for Santen EMEA's management and defend business development opportunities through decision-making bodies.
• Regularly scout markets and represent Santen Business Development at license conferences in the EMEA region.
• Support the Head of EMEA in business development and ad-hoc projects, support alliance managers in asset integration, and maintain relationships with global, Asian, and US BD organizations and EMEA functions.

What you will bring to the role

• Master’s degree in Life Sciences (Medical, Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Healthcare) or Business, or equivalent educational background
• 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry within the European region
• 3+ years of progressive experience in Business Development, Project Management or Financial controlling
• Brand Leadership and/or similar form of customer service-oriented activity in the healthcare industry
• Experience in either drug development and/ or pharma marketing/ market access
• Fluency in English + possibly another European language
• Result and delivery oriented
• Analytical and innovative thinking
• Strong communication skills
