Job Description

Sanden International (Europe) GmbH is looking for a Senior Hardware Designer (f/m/d) in Bad Nauheim in full time. You will be part of our EE Hardware Engineering department which is developing cutting-edge technologies for automotive products. Bring your ideas to life by integrating this innovation into vehicle’s thermal management, providing cabin comfort.

Essential responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  1. Full ownership and responsibility of the design of power converters (AC/DC, DC/DC converters)
  2. Lead Feasibility studies to product development and optimization projects with varying technologies and applications in focus.
  3. Provide design justification by delivering the relevant technical documentation
  4. Lead Converters testing for internal and customer product releases
  5. Support mechanical integration and bring the overall product to the desired result by tightly collaborating with System and Software Architecture and the other disciplines teams
  6. Independently plan and execute design and system verification activities, utilizing standard measurement equipment, and coordinating with external testing laboratories as necessary
  7. Design and test Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) filters in compliance with automotive standards
  8. Create electronic schematics and conduct routing using Altium Designer software

Other responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical support and training to EE team members
  2. Support purchasing in supplier evaluations and selections

Qualifications

Required experience and education:

  • At least 3 but ideally 5 years of relevant experience in the automotive sector
  • Master’s in Electrical Engineering or similar field

Your Must Haves:

  1. Well versed with power, analog and digital electronics
  2. Proficient in circuit design with a wide overview of components and technology (SiC, GaN, fast drivers, LV MOSFETs, microcontroller or microprocessor selection, sensors ...)
  3. Experience in using Altium Designer software (schematics and layout)
  4. Knowledge of PCB manufacturing
  5. Understanding of inverter control strategies for actuators
  6. Strong command of verbal English, allowing for clear articulation of ideas, concepts, thoughts, and complex information
  7. Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills with teams of different disciplines
  8. Attention to detail and rigor in approach

Your Nice-to-Haves:

  1. Knowledge of Electrical Compressor (EC), Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) or Integrated Thermal Management System (ITMS)
  2. Matlab/Simulink design simulation
  3. Ability to innovate new technical ideas for patent applications and future product generations
  4. Knowledge of CAN and LIN bus communication
  5. Demonstrated experience in HV and LV DC/DC converters, EMC or ITMS/HVAC system design
  6. Experience in root cause analysis
  7. Creative problem-solving skills
  8. Awareness of existing market solutions in power electronic engineering.
  9. Customer support experience.
  10. Knowledge of product development processes.
  11. Understanding of supply chain management.
  12. Ability to adapt quickly to a fast-changing environment
  13. Proficiency in verbal German
