Job Description
The Senior Specialist – Logistics Management is responsible for the end-to-end design, implementation, and optimization of the flow and storage of goods, services, and information. This role serves as a critical link between the point of origin and the consumer, ensuring that sales requirements are met through expert management of inbound/outbound transportation, warehousing, and 3PL performance. As a functional lead, the Senior Specialist integrates logistics with Marketing, Sales, Finance, and IT to drive cost-efficiencies and operational excellence across strategic, tactical, and operational levels.
Key Objectives:
- Operational Excellence: Lead the optimization of logistics KPIs, inventory accuracy, and supply chain integration, ensuring 3PL providers meet stringent contractual obligations.
- Resource Optimization: Manage the movement of goods and information to achieve "Just-in-Time" availability, prioritizing delivery speed, security, and cost-efficiency.
- Financial Stewardship: Drive budget development and procurement planning; monitor logistics expenditures to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
- Strategic Alignment: Develop and implement logistics policies and SOPs that align with corporate strategy and local regulatory requirements.
- Project Leadership: Act as the lead consultant for logistics network reorganization and customer-facing innovation projects.
Position Responsibilities
- Process Standardization: Establish and maintain consistency in logistics processes and performance metrics across all business units.
- Tactical Planning: Create detailed improvement roadmaps for supply chain operations, balancing budgetary constraints with turnaround commitments and resource availability.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Partner with senior business leadership to translate commercial developments into actionable logistics strategies.
- Advanced Analytics: Prepare complex management information reports (BI) to provide data-driven insights for strategic decision-making.
- Crisis Management: Independently resolve critical logistics bottlenecks or customs delays to safeguard contractual commitments and minimize business impact.
- Vendor Management: Design and implement robust 3PL performance frameworks (Scorecards) to ensure high service standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead ad-hoc initiatives focused on digitalization, system integration, and logistics network optimization.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Technical Competencies:
- Expert Knowledge: Mastery of supply chain systems, 3PL management, and end-to-end logistics frameworks.
- Regulatory Proficiency: In-depth understanding of KSA import/export laws, SABER requirements, customs clearance, and local transportation regulations.
- Last-Mile Strategy: Proven ability to enhance Last Mile Delivery (LMD) operations, focusing on route optimization, SLA success ratios, and lead-time reduction.
- Systems Fluency: Advanced proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel for data modeling and PowerPoint for executive presentations).
- Soft Skills:
- Negotiation & Influence: Strong interpersonal skills to navigate complex negotiations with vendors and local authorities.
- Problem Solving: High-level analytical thinking to troubleshoot supply chain constraints in a fast-paced environment.
- Cultural Fluency: Ability to work effectively within the local cultural and political landscape; bilingual proficiency (English/Arabic) is highly preferred but not essential.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in logistics or supply chain management
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
- Specialized Knowledge: Demonstrated expertise in International Trade, KSA Customs Laws, and Multi-modal transportation.
