Job Description

Purchasing Clerk is responsible for purchasing products, supplies, and raw materials for the organization under the direct supervision of the Procurement Manager. Responsibilities vary based on the size and type of products the organization uses or produces, ensuring the highest quality and best prices for the materials being purchased. Approaches his/her tasks in a team-based care fashion that supports patients and their families in self-management, self-efficacy, and behavior change

  • Starting Hourly Wage - $15 to $17.25 per hr. 
  • 5 day work week – Monday to Friday – Available 8 am to 5 pm

Specific Duties:

  • Works in conjunction with Medical Providers, Medical Assistants, Enrollment Specialists, Customer Service Associate and all other staff to ensure that patients obtain the highest standard of integrated health care
  • Preparing or editing purchase orders from various departments
  • Monitor onsite stock levels and identify purchasing needs
  • Placing orders with suppliers or vendors and ensuring that documentation is in order with terms and conditions being clear
  • Maintaining a filing system in the purchasing department and updating appropriate records when required
  • Ability to research for ways to reduce the cost to the company such as evaluating the cost of purchasing cost from various suppliers to arrive at the best deal
  • Inspecting consignments to verify if they are in order and as per agreed terms
  • Interacting with suppliers in case of delay in delivery of supplies, receipt of the damaged or incorrect quantity of goods
  • Works in conjunction with Medical Providers, Medical Assistants, Enrollment Specialists, Customer Service Associate and all other staff to ensure that patients obtain the highest standard of integrated health care
  • Acts as a patient advocate for our vulnerable populations by ensuring that patients are fully informed and comfortable with their visit to Salud  
  • Adheres to all standards, protocols, and laws surrounding patient confidentiality
  • Follows procedures for the electronic health records system
  • Ability to work with the accounting department.
  • Ability to assist with incoming calls on staff concerns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Specific Duties:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of Micro-soft products

  • Knowledge of excel and purchasing software helpful
  • Must be a self-motivated, pro-active, and independent worker
  • Possess excellent organizational skills
  • Good negotiation and math skills important
  • Purchasing clerk often negotiates prices with vendors and suppliers
  • Good communication skills
  • Must work well with the patient care team
  • Sensitivity to low income and ethnic minority community a must


High school diploma or GED, required
