Job Description

We are currently seeking to add a Staff Accountant to our growing Accounting Team!

The goal of our Staff Accountant is to support the Controller and Senior Accounting staff in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance / Accounting Department, as well as provide relief of certain responsibilities that will allow her/him to spend a greater portion of their time on Financial Statement preparation and analysis, Budget and Variance issues, and Forecasting. This position will also assist with the preparation of monthly financial analysis reports, developing and maintaining department budgets and generating reports.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Assist with the day-today, monthly and year-end operations of the Accounting/ Finance Department including financial reports, budget review and analysis.

-Perform and regularly maintain detailed reconciliations and analysis of general ledger accounts, including but not limited to; bank statements, fixed assets, employer’s benefit costs, accruals, reimbursements and prepaid expenses.

-Provide detailed analyses and explanations of all transactions.

-Perform daily cash reconciliations as well as monthly bank reconciliations.

-Processing of accrual reimbursements from all SSG departments (education, rebates, etc) to Manufacturers (Keune, KM, Keratin, etc).

-Prepare adjusting and reclassifying journal entries as needed

-Prepare and analyze the monthly budget/forecast to actual variance reports per program and department.

-Prepare documentation for external auditors.

-Review and process AMEX Expense reports and receipts submitted by cardholders on monthly basis.

-Assist with management of online expense management system.

-Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time – quite often on short notice - by the Controller.

-Performs other related duties and special projects as may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess the following:

-Accounting degree with 3-5 years of experience

-Strong accounting knowledge base

-Excellent MS Office skills, especially MS Excel

-Ability to Troubleshoot, strong problem solver, analytical reasoning and research ability

-Highly organized, strong attention to detail, thorough

-Confident decision maker

-Able to maintain strict confidentiality
