Job Description

The Senior Staff Accountant will have hands-on accounting experience and an in-depth understanding of accounting principles and company practices, this position will perform complex accounting activities and financial analyses. 

This position maintains and controls General Ledger accounts and business transactions of SSG, applying the GAAP that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records.   They support the Controller in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance/Accounting Department.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited too: 

  • Assist the Controller with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the Accounting/Finance Department including budget review and analysis. 
  • Manage the processing of accrual reimbursements from all SSG departments to Manufacturers
  • Review and process AMEX Expense reports and receipts submitted by cardholders on monthly basis. 
  • Perform daily cash reconciliations as well as monthly bank reconciliations, monthly manufacturer accruals reconciliations, adjusting and reclassifying journal entries as needed, and balance sheet reconciliations. 
  • Prepare and analyze the monthly budget/forecast to actual variance reports per program and department.
  • Perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, employer’s benefit costs, accruals and prepaid expenses.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports
  • Perform other accounting, financial, and administrative tasks as required

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must demonstrate an ability to interpret and apply accounting principles and effectively work with various departments within the company on cross-functional activities.

Other Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Five to seven years progressively responsible experience in accounting function
  • Strong analytical, accounting and problem solving skills
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty and with different levels of employees.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines
  • Familiarity with accounting software and programs and Microsoft applications
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work.
  • Aptitude for learning new skills, platforms, and technologies.
  • Ability to be resourceful and drive significant impact with limited resources.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, prioritization, and the ability to meet deadlines.
