Our customers are stylists, salons, cosmetology schools and barber shops. Our home office and distribution center is located in Springfield, Missouri.  Our distribution center supports 28 retail stores and 90 outside sales consultants located throughout MO, KS, AR, OK, KY, TN, TX, NE, IA, WI, MN, IL, IN. 

Job Description

We are seeking an energetic and motivated individual with proven capabilities to direct and coordinate all warehouse- distribution operations ensuring it is both efficient and effective.

Our Distribution Director oversees the day-to-day operations of our 43,000 sq. ft DC with emphasis on management of personnel and the implementation of DC action plans. This position will lead all distribution functions to ensure timely accurate order fulfillment, through the optimization of resources and processes by developing and implementing said processes to ensure compliance with company policies/procedures, to ensure continual process improvement and drive employee initiative to create and promote an environment where team members are involved, empowered, and committed to the success of the SSG.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform in a dynamic distribution center with daily changing priorities and workloads by ensuring that operational resources, including equipment and human talent, are properly allocated in relation to the changing needs of the day.
  • Effectively hire, train, lead and develop team members to enhance performance, provide future career growth opportunities and achieve SSG goals.
  • Design and implement staffing strategies to ensure work force is flexible and can respond to variations in work flow.
  • Ensure a work environment driven by mutual respect and a focus of shared goals.
  • Ensure DC works with a service focus to internal and external customers. 
  • Continuous improvement in order accuracy, on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, shipment integrity and continually improving the DC processes.
  • Monitor costs through regular reviews of overtime, supplies and shipping.
  • Negotiate best pricing and service with supplies and shipping vendors.
  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts, inspecting equipment, issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement. Oversee delivery vehicle including their routine maintenance and repairs to ensure the longevity of the company fleet.
  • Assisting in the implementation of safety policies and procedures, safety training, training to reduce work-related injury/illnesses and physical facility maintenance
  • Safely operate equipment (fork lift, pallet jack, ladders, etc.) as needed
  • Ensure location security (opening/closing procedures) when necessary.
  • May also require tasks such as receiving and unloading of trailers
  • Direct HQ Facilities projects and maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in business, supply chain management, logistics or related technical field or equivalent experience
  • 5 years progressive responsibility managing a distribution center, operations manager or similar role providing a solid understanding of warehouse operations including logistics, shipping and receiving procedures.
  • Prior experience in safety knowledge, including OSHA requirements
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to drive results.
  • Ability to operate on tight deadlines with multiple priorities that are subject to frequent changes.
  • Demonstrated competence and interest in operating systems including but not limited to Microsoft office and inventory/warehouse management and distribution software.
