Job Description

The Area Sales Manager (ASM) Softgoods Trail & Outdoor M/W drives sales and promotes the brand to achieve sales targets for Salomon Trail and Outdoor categories in the designated region of Paris and East France, and ensures an exceptional consumer experience at their assigned accounts and OMNI channel touchpoints.

The ASM builds partnerships with key specialty sporting goods retailers by developing joint plans to serve the consumer that benefit both Salomon and the retailer.

The key areas of the role will focus on:

Sales & Distribution

  • Achieve the seasonal sales and distribution targets in the defined territory
  • Develop a seasonal “game plan” to drive Salomon brand guidelines, strategies and priorities (PP program).
  • Build, present and coordinate seasonal Joint Business/ Marketing plans with assigned Premium Partners that deliver on strategic objectives of Salomon and maximizes consumer preference and brand experience.
  • Meet the seasonal key product category objectives in sales and distribution.
  • Identify territory sales, distribution and promotion opportunities.
  • Take care of all the customer related topics - sales and accounting aspects.

Sell Thru & Consumer Experience

  • Ensure a high level of product expertise and brand knowledge (Shop Pro Training) for store employees in Premium Partner and selected category specialty doors for a best in class consumer experience.
  • Increase and maximize Salomon in-store brand visibility and image through defined product assortments and seasonal key story packages.
  • Execute the Shine in Store strategy with concrete visual merchandising actions on footwear and bags walls in compliance with the merchandising guidelines.
  • Participate in the implementation of the Sell Thru strategy in some integrated key accounts.
  • Manage and execute local consumer activation's / events in Premium Partner Network as required.
  • Coordinate a seamless sell-thru execution, utilizing internal resources (shopper, customer service, IMM).

Relationship

  • Develop and maintain great working relationships with key personnel in each account.
  • Develop and maintain close cooperation with Salomon ASM / KAM community.
  • Develop and maintain relationship with local sports environment / community (clubs, resorts, event)

Reporting

  • Prepare and review customer performance report on seasonal basis.
  • Analyse and report competitor distribution, in-store presence and offering.
  • Inform Market Manager of trade related information on an ongoing basis.
  • Complete all reports and records required and submit on a timely basis.
  • Shares best practice across sales and marketing team.

Qualifications

Essential Skills & Experience

  • You possess 5-6 years of experience in related sales roles with strong selling and negotiating skills.
  • Prior experience working in general sporting goods, trail, outdoor and running specialty a plus.
  • You have strong analytical skills in order to analyse sell thru and sales data.
  • You are willing and able to travel a majority of your time, up to 80% in your region of Paris and East France.
