Job Description

 

  • Assists in managing the electrical engineering department, which provides design for industrial plants and processes
  • Oversees the quality of engineering documentation, equipment and installation related to the detailed design and engineering of industrial electrical power systems and controls
  • Liaises with clients, contractors and senior management members
  • Assists with, and prepares proposals and project cost estimates, including assigning/managing work-load and balancing internal client priorities
  • Resolves instrument, control and electrical technical issues
  • Ensures standard specifications/procedures and systems are followed
  • Plays a key role in business development activities by establishing and maintaining client relationships and developing business leads and work opportunities
  • Ensures completion of deliverables, including travel to our clients’ work sites
  • Serves as the technical lead and supervisor for electrical engineers and EITs and offers training and shares knowledge with others as required
  • Monitors the development of EITs and provides recommendations for improvement and performance feedback

Qualifications

 

  • Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution
  • Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer with EGBC
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with instrumentation design, working knowledge of control wiring/circuits, power systems software analysis skills (ETAP), and knowledge of hazardous area classifications and API standards
  • Knowledge of 3 phase power and ability to perform electrical engineering calculations
  • Technical requirements:
    • PLC wiring and IO schematics and control systems
    • Motor control and relay schematics
    • Coordination studies and arc flash
    • Electrical power distribution <25 Kv
    • MCC layout and medium voltage layout drawings, equipment selection
    • Cable tray, grounding and lighting experience
  • Team builder and facilitator, skilled in interpersonal interactions
  • Proactive with a high degree of initiative
  • Highly organized, with the ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent grasp of engineering principles and experience assessing complex systems
  • Ability to work in both a design office and operating plant environments
  • Working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to write reports and correspond with customers
  • Ability to travel to job sites for field work, commissioning and support
