Osgood Industries, LLC, is part of the Syntegon Group. At this location, in-line and rotary machines for de-nesting, filling, sealing, and capping of pre-formed plastic and paper cups and containers are designed and manufactured.
Job Description
Supervises and leads machine shop personnel. Works approximately 50% performing individual trade work on parts orders. Communicates company/department goals, safety practices, and deadlines to team. Motivates and trains team members and assesses performance. Provides help to management and keeps management updated on team performance. Communicates concerns and policies among management and team members. Daily responsibilities include managing cell/individual workload and shift schedules, leading daily meetings, leading improvement projects, tracking/reporting cost and improvements.
- Leads cell teams by delegating tasks, managing workload within the cell and individually, motivates and encourages team.
- Operates machinery to fulfil production orders, based on workload.
- Manages the daily cell production program to optimize set-ups and supports work order assignments scheduled by production department to machines and operators, appropriately assigns personnel to flex according to workload.
- Ensures on time delivery for the production orders with expected quality, at or below expected cost.
- Provides quality internal customer service, including interacting with internal customers, answering enquiries and effectively handling complaints.
- Recommend tooling fixtures required to increase productivity. Oversee implementation of said tooling and fixtures. Design special tooling and fixtures as required for effective production.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises machine shop personnel. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; resolving problems and recommending termination as necessary.
Qualifications
- Must possess 2+ years of vocational training or a technical diploma in CNC machining processes and programming plus at least 5+ years of work experience as a machinist OR have a minimum of 7+ years of overall experience working with CNC machining processes and programming in a Machine Shop environment including the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Must have a minimum of 2+ years functioning in a Supervisory or Leadership capacity in a manufacturing environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Expert technical knowledge of machinery and tool capabilities.
- Expert in manufacturing process and set up optimization.
- Hands-on operator, works without supervision.

The expected compensation range for this position is between $80,000 - $90,000/year based on a full-time schedule.
