Summary

The role will require the individual to design electrical control systems for packaging machinery. This would involve using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN for circuit designs, complete control system safety analysis using Sistema and write / develop machine software using (Rockwell and Beckhoff).

Key Responsibilities

The Engineer will:

• Direct design work on customer projects.
• Attend specification meetings with customers, providing authoritative contribution regarding the Electrical design aspects of the project.
• Communicate with other design engineers (mechanical and electrical) the design on projects to ensure that these are fully coordinated.
• Contributing creative ideas.
• Completing engineering design on time to the project plan.
• Be aware of cost targets in design, purchase, and assembly.
• Document and archiving all project related material.
• Carry out risk assessments on machinery.
• Attend project meetings.
• Provide assistance to Assembly personnel during the build phase of a project.

Duties

• Design Electrical control systems using AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN.
• Write and develop PLC code for machine control using Rockwell and Beckhoff.
• Write and develop Servo Motion code for machine control using Rockwell and Beckhoff.
• Write and develop HMI code for operator interfaces using Rockwell and Zenon.
• Write and develop Safety controller code for the machine safety using Pilz and Phoenix.
• Produce Bill of Materials using Agile product lifecycle management software.
• Commissioning of packaging machinery at Syntegon and customers site.

Specific Features

• Extensive Engineering experience, if possible within Packaging industry.
• Valid passport to enable travel within EU and globally as required.
• Valid driving license.
• Valid work permit to enable employment in the UK.
• Willing to travel within UK and abroad.

Knowledge and Skills:

The job holder will hold the following knowledge and skills.

• Electrical Engineering HNC or equivalent qualification.
• Engineering Experience in capital equipment ideally broad experience within Packaging industry.
• MS office package.
• Effective negotiation skills.
• Problem solving ability.
• Methodical and clear reporting.
• Communication/Cooperation (Advanced).
• Programming using Rockwell, Beckhoff and Zenon software.
• Engineering Design using AutoCAD electrical or EPLAN.
• Ability to design for manufacture and assembly.
• An understanding of the machinery directive, UKCA, UL and CE marking regulations.
• An understanding of 60204 regulations.
• Trained in using performance safety levels and the use of Sistema.
• Design to cost targets – essential.
• Problem solving/trouble shooting – essential.
• Product handling – desirable.
• Understanding of Servo motion technology.
