Job Description

Responsible for Kliklok global machine sales, “baggers” sales in North America (North of Panama Canal), and wrap around cartoners in North America.  Includes Technical sales, Inside Sales, Syntegon Customer Center.  Key performance objectives include strategic sales leadership, order intake, sales, gross margins, net profits, customer relationships, customer satisfaction and cost management.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

 

Sales Management

 

  • Directs and manages the sales and sales support staff including:
  • develop and deploy targets for order intake, sales, profit
  • development of effective customer relationships
  • achieve high levels of customer response and satisfaction
  • developing strategic plans and specific actions to achieve objectives
  • create and drive a culture of teamwork, responsiveness, and continuous improvement
  • professional development of direct reports
  • sales staff productivity, optimizing compensation and incentive programs, facilitating pricing policies/decisions;  managing travel expenses

 

  • Generate accurate forecasts for order intake, sales, gross margins
  • Determine most effective sales models across the multiple product lines and territories (direct sales, representative, agent, distributor, etc).
  • support customer negotiations related to price, terms, delivery, etc; 

 

  • Market aspects:
  • effective, measureable processes for prospecting new customers and new projects
  • deepening existing customer relationships
  • successful introduction of new products
  • capture and utilize relevant market/competitive trends and intelligence
  • Establish / maintain effective relationships within the Syntegon organization including:
  • the leadership team and other departments e.g. Operations, Aftermarket, Finance, Quality, global Syntegon colleagues (Europe, South America, China, ..).

 

Business Development / Product Management, working with Product Management

 

  • Establish business development requirements and priorities for PAUS products (optimized sales support structure, sales tools, training, etc). 
  • Develop effective processes for capturing and utilizing relevant market/competitive intelligence. Provide product development priorities for the Decatur location and meaningful input to PANL and PAGS business unit and other CoC’s.  Participate in global PAUS product master planning.
  • Clear strategies and processes to successfully introduce new products e.g. market introductions, marketing mechanisms, sales processes, how to achieve customer momentum, etc.  Includes joint strategies with the CoC.

 

Marketing, working with Marketing Leadership

 

  • Leads efforts to determine marketing objectives/priorities for PAUS. 
  • Ensure that products are marketed and new products are introduced in accordance with objectives to maximize market share, sales and profitability 
  • Evaluate the overall effectiveness of marketing initiatives (effectiveness, cost/benefit, etc). Lead continuous improvement efforts based on dynamic market/competitive conditions, increased creativity, etc.

General Management, working with GM

  • Sets strategic direction and goals related to sales, marketing and product development.
  • Drives and implements revenue growth strategies.
  • Leads the department in efforts for Continuous Improvement of processes.
  • Prepares departmental budgets, monitors performance against budget, sets commission and incentive programs, ensures appropriate staff training and development, establishes policies and procedures related to department objectives
  • Manages employee productivity and performance.
  • Ensures appropriate information is shared and optimum communication among departments is achieved.
  • Maintains and promotes a safe work environment through training, monitoring workplace for hazards and open communication with employees and Safety Committee regarding related concerns and improvement ideas.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct Line Management of Managers/Supervisors (with teams) and Regional Sales Managers

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in sales management, forecasting, revenue generation/growth
  • Strong strategic planning skills
  • Ability to lead and drive continuous improvement within a sales environment
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, both internal and external audiences;
  • Working knowledge of the food industry, engineering / manufacturing practices
  • Strong customer service orientation;
  • Proven leadership experiences at the division, department and/or team levels;
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally;
  • Strong experience in business development, product management and marketing.
  • Strong knowledge in CRM use and data management
  • Change agent and team building skills

Education and Experience:

 

  • BS degree in Engineering, Business, or related field.  MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership roles in sales, sales support, sales management
  • High technology capital equipment sales and sales management experience with involvement in Packaging Machine preferred.

 

Travel Requirements

  • Driving license and passport are a requirement. Most travel driven by customer visits (e.g. accompany sales personnel to customers). Also participate in industry related events or trade shows.  Some global travel required to optimize the import sales processes and develop effective cross-functional relationships within Syntegon.

Additional information

The expected compensation range for this position is between $110,000 - $160,000 based on a full-time schedule.

Compensation for roles at Syntegon varies depending on a wide array of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, degree/credentials, relevant skill set, and level of relevant experience. At Syntegon compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Total rewards at Syntegon include salary + bonus (if applicable) + benefits.
