Job Description

SUMMARY: Performs troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, installation, modification, vision system and particle sensor parameter setup of Automatic Inspection Machines for vials, ampoules, cartridges and syringes. Support of other types of pharmaceutical packaging and inspection equipment within our I2P division may also be required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform machine installation with Senior Engineer, and assist in Site Acceptance Testing
  • Assist at preventive maintenance visits, including the following tasks:

                  o Check and troubleshoot electrical wiring and circuits
                  o Check and perform lubrication with oils and greases
                  o Perform electrical and mechanical calibration and alignments
                  o Inspect and replace worn or damaged spin bearings
                  o Inspect and replace worn or damaged spin belts and brakes

  • Maintain routine communication with customer contacts to ensure proper function of machines
  • Assist at Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with customer at Bosch facility in Japan
  • Troubleshooting of machine problems, along with Senior Engineer, both mechanical and electrical in nature:

                  o PLC programs
                  o High false reject rates of particle and cosmetic defects in the Pharmaceutical Industry with high speed camera inspections

  • Perform PC repairs and upgrades, both at office and at customer site
  • Tear down and rebuild older inspection machines with Senior Engineer
  • Disassemble, troubleshoot, and rebuild many different types of mechanically moving parts in inspection machines based on need in coordination with Senior Engineer
  • Contact customers for update on machine status and needs
  • Perform troubleshooting and support over the phone with customers as needed
  • Lift items up to 30 pounds, maneuver equipment for placement and to bend down and work within lower areas of machine
  • Work in tight quarters; on top and underneath equipment and must be able to stand, stoop and bend continuously
  • Generate recommended spare parts list for inspection machine
  • Process expense reports and trip reports on all service visits in a timely fashion
  • Will travel extensively (up to 75% overnight travel) largely in North America, some international which requires a valid Driver’s License / Passport or ability to acquire a Passport

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a minimum of an Associates Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or 2+ years of vocational/ technical training on Electromechanical systems
  • Must have a minimum of 3+ years experience working in a Field Service capacity on industrial machinery or capital equipment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering preferred
  • Experience in Vision Systems is highly desired
