Software Dev Engineer II
- Full-time
Company Description
As an SDE II at Swiggy, you will design, build, and own large-scale, high-concurrency backend
systems that power products used by millions of customers every day. You will take services
from a blank page to production - defining the architecture, making the technology choices, and
owning reliability, performance, and scale end to end. You will co-drive your team's technical
vision, raise the bar on engineering quality, and mentor other developers as they grow. Equally
important, our platforms are increasingly intelligent: you will build and integrate LLM-driven and
agentic AI workflows into these systems, collaborating with product and business teams to
translate product features into agent-driven, production-grade designs. We are looking for a
strong systems engineer with solid AI experience - someone who thinks deeply about data
modeling, distributed systems, and what it takes to keep services fast and dependable under
real-world load, and who knows how to bring LLM-powered capabilities into that world reliably.
Job Description
What qualities are we looking for?
- B Tech/M Tech in Computer Science or equivalent from a reputed college with a minimum
of 3-5 years of experience in a product development company.
• Proven experience designing and building distributed, high-concurrency, low-latency
backend systems at scale.
• Has built multiple services from scratch and owned them end to end - architecture,
development, deployment, monitoring, and on-call operations.
• Strong grasp of scalability fundamentals: caching, queuing/async processing, sharding and
partitioning, replication, load balancing, rate limiting, and fault tolerance.
• Strong design skills involving data modeling, low-level class design, API design, and
system design.
• Good knowledge of object-oriented programming, concurrency primitives, and design
patterns.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language - Python, Java, Golang.
• Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases, messaging systems (e.g.,
Kafka, SQS), and Linux/Unix platforms.
• Follows industry coding standards and is responsible for writing maintainable, scalable,
and efficient code to solve business problems.
• A strong team player who has mentored junior developers and helped raise the technical
bar of the team.
• Hands-on experience integrating LLMs from providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic
(Claude), Bedrock, and Azure OpenAI into production systems.
• Practical experience with LangChain or LangGraph for building AI-driven workflows and
orchestration; exposure to agentic/multi-agent architectures preferred.
• Strong technical aptitude and good knowledge of CS fundamentals.
What will you get to do here?
- Architect and build new backend services from the ground up, and evolve existing systems
for higher scale, concurrency, and reliability.
• Own end-to-end architecture for your team's systems and implement the long-term
technology vision for your team.
• Come up with best practices to help the team achieve their technical tasks and continually
improve the technology of the product/team.
• Drive the adoption of best practices through regular participation in code reviews, design
reviews, and architecture discussions.
• Mentor and guide developers on the team through design feedback, pairing, and code
reviews.
• Design and ship AI-driven and agentic workflows within your services, and experiment with
new and relevant technologies and tools, driving adoption while measuring yourself on the
impact you create.
• Decide technology and tool choices for your team and be responsible for them.
