Since 1976, St. Joseph Center has been meeting the needs of low-income and homeless individuals and families in Venice and throughout Los Angeles County.  The Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community organization that assists people without regard for religious affiliation or lack thereof through 20+ programs in four pillars of service: Outreach and Engagement, Housing Services, Mental Health, and Education and Vocational Training.  St. Joseph Center serves more than 10,000 people each year. 

Brief Description of Principal Activities

Multifaceted intervention, prevention, mental health, and housing assistance is offered through street outreach and 9 service sites throughout Los Angeles County. St. Joseph Center also provides on-site services at five permanent supportive housing developments, and will provide services at an additional six more sites in the coming year.  St. Joseph Center’s total holistic approach to services provide our clients with the help they need to regain their stability.

Job Summary

St. Joseph Center (SJC), a multi-program social service agency is recruiting a Program Manager.  Serving as a team leader while adhering to the mission of St. Joseph Center, the Manager is responsible for providing both administrative and clinical supervision to program to program staff as well as overseeing day-to-day operations of the program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Program Manager’s key areas of responsibility and essential duties include:   

Essential Duties:

  • Provide clinical and administrative supervision to all program/department staff
  • Oversee service delivery consulting regularly with the Director regarding quality control issues to maintain the highest standard of services    
  • Along with the Director, manage program activities assure timely completion of progress notes and all forms of related to the program(s)
  • May provide assessment, crisis intervention, mental health and case management services to a small caseload of consumers  
  • Collect statistics and prepare reports for funders and internal agency use
  • Coordinate the development of cooperative relationships with other service providers, police and public safety officers and/or any other community resources.     
  • Participating in other St. Joseph Center community, administrative and fundraising activities as necessary    
  • Participate in appropriate contract related meetings   
  • Monitor weekly and monthly staff productivity   
  • Along with the Director, develop, review and revise, as necessary, all administrative policies and procedures in keeping with program requirements    
  • Along with the Director, create a program budget and monitor spending during the fiscal year

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have a current licensure as an LMFT or LCSW in the state of California
  • Must be highly motivated and a self-starter. 
  • Must have the ability to communicate with and relate to a diverse group of people including clients, community, and other staff. 
  • Must have excellent administrative and organizational skills.
  • Must demonstrate ability to manage and supervise professional and para-professional staff while handling multiple tasks and relating to diverse populations.

Experience:

  • 2 years minimum management and/or supervisory experience.  
  • Experience working on or supervising a DMH contracted program is preferred.
  • Experience providing mental health and substance abuse services in a community setting; experience working with the mentally ill/dually diagnosed population; para-professional and administrative staff is preferred.
  • Experience providing case management, mental health and substance use services in a community setting with homeless or at- risk populations

Education:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, human services or a related field.

Direct Reports:

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to use widely supported internet browsers.
  • Ability to use various electronic health records and other databases.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

  • Current licensure as an LMFT or LCSW in the state of California
  • Valid California Class C Driver License and clear DMV report required.
  • Valid automobile liability insurance.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel to meetings at multiple St. Joseph Center sites and at community partners’ locations as needed.
