Job Description

The IT Portfolio Manager is a critical role within STCU, requiring teamwork across IT leadership to ensure adherence to governance standards and successful portfolio delivery. Responsibilities include budget and operational planning, both at the project and portfolio levels, and reporting on the state and performance of initiatives within the IT portfolio through quarterly planning cycles. This role supports IT leadership in their efforts at coordinating, leading and bringing to bear the entire life cycle of IT investments and initiatives to successfully achieve STCU’s goals and objectives.

Core Job Requirements/Outcomes:

  • Deliver new or upgraded IT services and product(s) by leading cross-functional IT teams by prioritizing, planning, executing and managing IT projects according to timelines, value, risk, budgets and STCU’s project methodologies and processes.
  • Direct the development and maintenance of communications and reporting around the IT project portfolios, their contents, and the individual performance of initiatives to IT leadership, stakeholders, organizational committees, and senior executives by implementing transparent reporting systems and regular updates.
  • Deliver and oversee the IT services and product lifecycle roadmap, incorporating ongoing maintenance, version refresh, product, viability assessment, replacement, and disposition by implementing a comprehensive lifecycle management strategy.

Other Essential Functions

  • Represent IT in strategic and cross-functional projects. Identify tasks and assign SME for successful project implementation. Identify, communicate and work to resolve project roadblocks and challenges.
  • Establish, manage, and measure effectiveness (KPIs) of the IT portfolio by ensuring alignment with STCU strategic goals, associated risk, resource alignment and total cost of ownership.
  • Lead highly motivated IT project teams that are satisfied and engaged with continued growth and development opportunities, celebration of accomplishments and by fostering a culture where communications is open and transparent, differences are valued, life outside work is honored and fun is encouraged.
  • Provide technical and member expertise recommendations to the Technical Architecture Group for delivery on technical and business required solutions.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems and/or Business Management or applicable experience equivalent is required. Master’s Degree is preferred.

Certifications: PfMP, Portfolio Management Professional certification from PMI or Continuous Improvement certifications preferred.

Job Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Information Technology. Strong experience in delivering IT solutions through proven project management methodologies

Software Skills: Previous experience with collaboration, project management tools and 3-tier architecture.

Equipment Skills: Previous experience with hardware equipment including routers, switches, servers, computers, and cloud-based infrastructure.

Other Skills: Keeps apprised of current and emerging technologies. Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to develop and communicate the portfolio objectives, inspire, and motivate project teams, and maintain alignment with business strategies. Strong influencing and negotiation skills to ensure the effectiveness of the IT portfolio and IT product lifecycle.

Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 30 pounds with accommodations.

Work Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

Travel Demands: Travel for annual training and site visits less than 10% of the time.
