Salary range: $39.25 - $53.87 per hour 

Job Description

The Network Administrator is responsible for troubleshooting and monitoring networks to efficiently manage systems alerts and any potential issues. This position provides network support to users by managing and responding to incident tickets, prioritizing mission critical devices, and address all network issues in a timely manner. The Network Administrator II works independently, under minimal supervision and has familiarity with server management and monitoring tools.

Core Job Requirements/Outcomes:

  • Support internal and external data networks by administering and managing infrastructure devices to include routers, switches, SDWAN, and WLAN devices. Support software applications by handling medium complex ticket escalations and coordinating assistance from other IT Engineering team members for problem resolution. Use quality troubleshooting processes by dividing the problem and eliminating possible causes in a systematic process.
  • Ensure a stable and well documented IT environment by following established procedures, updating documentation when differences from current practice exist, troubleshooting all aspects of hardware equipment and coordinating maintenance with other teams and the users when applicable.
  • Build a secure IT environment by maintaining an awareness of the security implications of changes you are asked to make within the environment and making recommendations to enhance the overall security posture of the organization. Identify potential threats and manage resolutions to any network security violations.
  • Successfully deploy new application and networking software\firmware by adhering to current IT standards, developing system and flow diagrams, and ensuring disaster recovery processes have been established for each new application.

Other Essential Functions:

  • Support deployments of new technologies through enterprise and department level projects.
  • Automate tasks and processes for efficiency using automation software, PowerShell and other methods
  • Contribute to and support a positive work environment to ensure an effective, high preforming and cohesive team, as well as independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline or specialized training from an accredited vocational school required.

Certification Current Microsoft Server, Networking, Security or SQL certification required. One or more networking certifications from Aruba, Cisco, or Juniper such as ACDP, ACCP, ACSP, ACEP, CCNA, CCNP, CWNA, JNCIE, etc., preferred.

Job Experience: Minimum three years of relevant experience supporting and working with network systems such as routers, switches, and firewalls required, and at least two core IT technologies (SQL, IIS, Routing/Switching, SharePoint, etc.) preferred.

Software Skills: Previous experience with Windows Server based applications. PowerShell or other scripting language experience required at a proficient level. Experience with Virtual Server and workstation platforms. Proficient knowledge of MS Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.

Equipment Skills: Experience with Juniper, Aruba or Cisco routing and switching equipment. Proficient knowledge of all layers of the OSI model and how to support physical server systems in an enterprise network. Solid understanding of Physical Layer infrastructure. Ability to work tasks for all local IT infrastructure (network, physical layer, and UPS).

Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 50 pounds with accommodations.

Work Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. This role is part of an on-call rotation, supporting a 24/7 enterprise environment, where a one-hour response time is required.
