Job Description

The Community Relations Officer II  (CRO II) is responsible for supporting the decisions of our donations committee and administrative support in executing the coordination, planning and implementation of sponsorships and community/business development programs on behalf of STCU. The CRO II works with the Community Relations Manager to find new business and philanthropic opportunities to assist with promoting the overall goals of the credit union to deepen member relationships and increase our growth in alignment with our strategic initiatives.

**This position requires the candidate to attend in-person community events, school functions, and appear at public venues that require vaccination pursuant to Washington State Governor Inslee’s proclamations and other applicable state and local policies. A successful applicant for this position will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment and must beable to attest to be fully vaccinated prior to commencement of employment. Core Job Requirements/Outcomes

  • In partnership with the Community Relations Manager, administer and carry out community, public relations and community/business development initiatives that enhance, improve and attract those STCU serves by consistent and efficient follow through and communication.
  • Ensure accessibility to STCU for those in need resulting in innovative and creative means to serve our members and our communities by scanning the environment to leverage strategic partnerships and equip front line and back office staff with the necessary tools.
  • Share our philanthropic and community/business development outreach efforts to internal and external audiences for the department by leading and creating the Community Relations communications plan and strategy in partnership with brand marketing.
  • Engage within the communities we serve by actively representing STCU and demonstrating Here for good by continual participation in community events and serving on strategic community and non-profit boards and committees to enhance our brand and reputation in the community.

Other Essential Functions

  • Communication and maintain the CR department page, STCU Calendar of Events, Buzz Story communications and serve as the liaison with brand marketing, including social media.
  • Communicate and present on STCU products and services and the credit union difference by developing a versatile understanding.
  • Support the Community Development team with financial education deliverables, including scheduling of financial education classes and coordination of curriculum.
  • Support the administration of the community relations database, donations portal and reporting system.
  • Responsible for the tactical oversight of STCU’s Chamber of Commerce memberships, to include communication of Chamber events to internal partners, and in partnership with brand marketing, ensuring membership deliverables are met.
  • Coordinate and administer the internal Volunteers Count program including tracking, coordination of volunteer opportunities and scheduling.
  • Coordinate STCU Signature Events including Back to School, Branch Openings, After Hour Events, Administrative Professionals, etc. in collaboration with Community Relations team.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, Marketing or related field required or equivalent work experience.
  • Job Experience: Minimum of three years directly related experience to include organizing and conducting special event activities and projects in a Business Development/Community Relations position. Proven experience in developing and maintaining business relationships in a financial services or sales environment to include the development of a business plan for community outreach.
  • Software Skills: Proficient knowledge of MS Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, database administration and modern enterprise video communications.
  • Other Skills: Strong communications skills including the ability to articulate clearly in both written and verbal delivery methods. Broad experience in public speaking as well as preparing and delivering news releases and formal presentations is required. Previous community volunteer experience is strongly preferred

Physical Abilities

  • Requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to regularly talk, hear, see and operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Occasionally lift, pull/push, and carry up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting.
  • Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

Travel Demands

  • Must have a reliable vehicle for travel to current and future STCU locations and work early mornings, late evenings and weekends.
