Job Description

The Consumer Loan Origination and Sales Manager is responsible for the leadership and direction of the Consumer and Home Equity Loan origination and sales team within the Lending Center. The department is responsible for the origination of all loan requests submitted online, phone, CO-OP, and referral channels.

Core Job Requirements/Outcomes

  • Serve as a leader and mentor to the assistant managers and indirectly to the loan officers by providing training and coaching to enhance production performance and member service. Ensure appropriate sales and service techniques are being upheld and utilized consistently, establish, and govern production/sales goals for individuals and the department that correlate with the Consumer Lending growth strategies.
  • Ensures that loans from all delivery channels are originated in a timely and efficient manner by ensuring staff achieve a high level of efficiency in consumer transactions by monitoring calls, auditing loan applications, maintain employee expectations, and provide timely coaching and mentoring.
  • Maintain lending relationships by providing the highest level of service focus and collaboration with lending partners. Within this scope, maintain a constant dialog with Underwriting, Processing, Lending Administration, Continuous Improvement, and Retail leadership regarding the loan workflow, processing handoff, appointment scheduling, and the overall member experience.

Other Essential Functions

  • Ensure that service is delivered according to established standards.  Review all member feedback received and identify issues for follow-up. Maintain member service standards according to feedback received in service surveys and recommend and make changes/enhancements.
  • Make recommendations on new programs and existing program improvements that enhance STCU’s efforts.
  • Administer effective project management, continuous improvement and prioritization for department projects. 

Qualifications

Education: Associates degree in related field is required. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

Job Experience: At least five years’ experience in the consumer or home equity lending field. A minimum of one year leadership experience including delegating, facilitating change, mentoring, problem solving, coaching, and counseling staff is required.

Software Skills: Proficient knowledge of MS Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.

Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 10 pounds with accommodations.

Work Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

Travel Demands: Ability to travel within the footprint of STCU locations.
