Job Description

The Member Service Representative engages with and serves new and existing members through an interactive, consultative process that deepens relationships and member loyalty with STCU. Team Members in this role provide financial direction to assist members in meeting their current and future financial goals with the appropriate products and/or services, and is accountable for delivering an Unparalleled member experience by providing efficient and accurate  service in teller and member service functions.

Principal Accountabilities
Deepening Member Relationships

  • Pro–actively greet members as they enter the branch and engage in a collaborative dialogue.
  • Responsible for deepening member relations by analyzing members’ needs and interests; and introducing products and services to both new and existing members.
  • At a minimum will open basic account types including checking and savings with an increase in ability expected with time in the job to include certificates of deposits, IRAs, basic business accounts and trusts.
  • Provide information and referrals to members seeking other services including mortgage, small business, commercial and investments.
  • Answer questions and resolve practical to complex technical problems on member accounts.
  • Assist member with learning and using new and existing technology.
  • Perform account maintenance and research.
  • Complete paperwork associated with account opening and submit within required time frames.

Teller Performance

  • Perform Teller functions without assistance as needed to support the branch.
  • Process all member and shared branch member transactions, deposits, withdrawals, transfers, payments, check orders, issuing of cards, etc.; accurately and efficiently. Be proficient with all cash handling processes.
  • Balance cash drawer, keeping posting and proof errors to a minimum, and working within the guidelines, procedures, and processes.
  • Must be able to trouble shoot system problems.
  • Must be able to research cash offages, member issues and disputes.
  • Perform balancing of all machines including Recyclers, Coin, and Cash Advance.
     

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of one year experience in a financial institution working as a Teller, new accounts representative or loan officer. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency at an STCU branch may be considered in lieu of experience.  Preference will be given to candidates who have both teller and new accounts/loan officer experience.
  • Previous consultive sales experience may be considered in lieu of financial institution experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Previous experience in keyboarding/PC and 10-key calculator.

Physical Abilities

  • Must be able to regularly see, talk, hear, and operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Occasionally lift, pull/push, and carry up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Highly interactive environment, requires the ability and desire to actively engage members.
  • May occasionally require an adjusted work schedule and overtime.
  • Frequent computer use at a workstation.
  • Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting.
  • Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
