Job Description

The Commercial Banking Specialist provides administrative support and guidance to internal STCU partners as well as commercial and business service members. This position handles multiple priorities simultaneously, working quickly, accurately and efficiently under short deadlines. The Commercial Banking Specialist works proactively to anticipate needs and takes timely corrective action to resolve issues.

Core Job Requirements/Outcomes

  • Ensure accuracy and completion of all related tasks by maintaining moderate to complex files, records and reports, communicating between requesting parties such as loan officers, auditors, etc. and demonstrating a clear understanding of the request and subject matter.
  • Proactively and effectively organize workflow and provide support to the assigned partner by offering portfolio management, documentation collection and management as well as credit analysis.
  • Provide first line support by serving as a subject matter expert with the nCino Operating System and providing excellent member service to those who are utilizing the nCino Operating System.
  • Ensure all loans fully comply with SBA and Credit Union regulations by performing timely completion of duties related to processing, packaging, closing and funding all SBA loans.

Other Essential Functions

  • Support departmental initiatives and projects by contributing as an effective team member and completing all tasks and assignments in a timely manner.
  • Provide support and guidance to the Commercial Banking Manager by monitoring past due financial covenants, annual reviews and insurance policies that have lapsed.
  • Facilitate smooth communications between members and the Commercial Lending Department staff by ensuring service levels are achieved, resulting in high member satisfaction.
  • Contribute and support a positive and professional work environment by demonstrating respectful interactions, both written and verbally, to ensure an effective, highly performing and cohesive team.
  • Regularly practice clear communication and engagement skills around the entire suite of STCU products and services. Invite members respect by demonstrating product and service knowledge and engaging members around the benefits of using them.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, or training others as requested. Perform annual site inspections as needed for annual review compliance

Qualifications

Education: Associate’s degree preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required.

Job Experience: Minimum five years’ experience working with commercial business products and services is required. Robust knowledge and experience in all aspects of SBA loans is required. The ability to prioritize demanding tasks based on departmental and team priorities is required.

Software Skills: Previous experience supporting the nCino Bank Operating System is preferred.

Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 10 pounds with accommodations.

Work Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

Travel Demands: Travel as needed for site inspections, meetings and training.
