Job Description

The Real Estate Disclosure Specialist I is responsible for providing support to the real estate production team by completing setups, disclosures, and verification documentation in alignment with STCU loan standards and procedures. 

Principal Accountabilities
Loan Documentation

  • Prepare initial regulatory disclosures and ensure timely delivery and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry regulations specific to both initial and subsequent disclosures. 
  • Confirm rate locks and perform re-disclosure of file.
  • Monitor various e-mail boxes and upload documentation to corresponding loan file.
  • Prepare verifications of employment and deposit and forward documents to corresponding parties for completion.  
  • Order title reports, vesting documents, and other required documentation necessary to complete processing and/or moving loan to closing.
  • Prepare and send correspondence to loan applicants which may include new member information and denial letters.
  • Maintain positive relationships with members, realtors, title companies, appraisers, and credit reporting agencies and assist them with answering questions, providing relevant information/materials and other requests.

Miscellaneous Duties

  • Help achieve department and organizational goals by meeting expected standards for the department, cross selling products and services, and maintaining knowledge of policies and procedures.
  • Provide training and support to Loan Officers, Processors and Closers on disclosure and TRID requirements.
  • Remain up to date and knowledgable in all compliance aspects of TRID.
  • Perform additional duties as required for efficient operation of the department and the organization.  This includes the possibility of being assigned temporarily to other locations.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one year prior experience in real estate loan documentation and/or origination required.
  • Working knowledge of mortgage loan program guidelines, underwriting and regulatory requirements preferred. 
  • Knowledge of and experience with RESPA/TRID compliant disclosures and HMDA compliance adverse action requirements strongly preferred.
  • Experience with loan origination software, electronic file storage systems and submission of loans through Freddie Mac’s Loan Prospector. 
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Previous experience in keyboarding/PC and 10-key calculator.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required, including maintaining positive relationships and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work group, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and prioritize and manage competing demands.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret data and understand and communicate complex and diverse information.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations exercising flexibility and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to make practical and timely decisions and explain reasoning for decisions.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Strong work ethic required, including the ability to complete duties on time, consistently arrive at work on time as scheduled, and ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.  

Physical Abilities

  • Must be able to regularly talk, hear, see and operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Occasionally lift, pull/push, and carry up to 10 pounds.
