Job Description

The Home Loan Processor II is responsible for performing high volume, accurate and timely real estate lending functions, including government loans (FHA/VA), in alignment with STCU loan standards and procedures. 

Principal Accountabilities
Real Estate Processing 

  • Obtain information needed to approve and close mortgages within time frames needed/requested by members.  
  • Review loan applications and request the interviewer to obtain any information missing needed to begin processing.
  • Order appraisals, credit reports and title commitments. Prepare and send verifications.   
  • Review appraisals, credit reports and verifications for completion and accuracy.  Order corrected documents when needed.
  • Update members and realtors about status of loans in process.  Request additional information from members when needed.
  • Prepare applications for underwriting and perform pre-underwriting review to determine if verified information supports a loan that meets STCU’s loan policies and secondary market guidelines.  Communicate pertinent information to underwriters. 
  • Submit applications to PMI for approval, when applicable. 
  • Obtain information to clear pre-closing conditions and give loan files to Docs/Funding to close. Communicate pertinent information about the file.  
  • Protect credit union’s interest by ensuring that all requirements set by the approving authority are met.  
  • Meet production goals as established in cooperation with the Real Estate Operations Manager.
     

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.  Some college preferred.
  • Minimum of three years’ mortgage processing experience required.
  • One year experience processing FHA/VA loans preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Previous experience in keyboarding/PC and 10-key calculator.
  • Previous experience with loan origination software, electronic file storage systems and submission of loans through Freddie Mac’s Loan Prospector required. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required, including maintaining positive relationships and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work group, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and prioritize and manage competing demands working under pressure in a fast-paced, stressful, deadline-oriented environment. 
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret data and understand and communicate complex and diverse information. 
  • Strong work ethic required, including the ability to complete duties on time, consistently arrive at work on time as scheduled, and ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.  

Physical Abilities

  • Must be able to regularly talk, hear, and operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Occasionally lift, pull/push, and carry up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting.
  • Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
