Job Description

The Loan Service Officer is responsible for processing title work on all consumer secured loans, including transfers and liens, maintaining an ongoing audit of title records. This position is also responsible for processing and tracking Collateral Protection Insurance, Credit reporting research and corrections, as well as providing support to all functions of the Loan Service department in all functions associated with the servicing of consumer loans after origination.

Principal Accountabilities
Title Processing

  • Maintain and monitor consumer loan files for lien perfection through the paperless title system.
  • Prepare forms for transfer of titles and liens according to the Motor Vehicle and Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) regulations and procedures.
  • File UCCs on appropriate collateral and maintain a follow-up system to completion.  Stay informed of any changes in filing procedures and/or forms.
  • Review loan files for errors made in the loan origination process.
  • Review paid loan report; retrieve files and release titles.
  • Maintain an ongoing audit of title records that have not been perfected over 60 days.  Research and follow through to resolve and attain title perfection.
  • Respond to member inquiries concerning title questions/concerns.
  • Process all payoff checks received from dealers and other financial institutions and release titles accordingly.
  • Resolve unperfected Title issues, preparing adequate documentation on all

Insurance

  • Collateral Protection Insurance
  • Monitor for force place insurance
  • Track premiums and refunds
  • Review and process insurance waivers
  • Claim and GAP/MRC refund processing
  • CUNA Claims
  • Initiate and process claims with the Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) Company.
  • Act as the liaison between the member and PPI company to see that claims are processed with correct information and reviewed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and track pending and active disability and life claims.

Credit Reporting

  • Process credit bureau corrections in a timely manner.
  • Review and research credit bureau disputes in a timely manner.
  • Posting of 3rd party payments including Asset Recovery and Debt Management payments.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of four years experience in lien perfection and related documentation with a general knowledge of Motor Vehicle and Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) regulations and procedures and/or credit reporting, collateral protection insurance, and consumer lending.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required, including maintaining positive relationships and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and prioritize and manage competing demands.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret data and understand and communicate complex and diverse information, and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations exercising flexibility and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to make practical and timely decisions and explain reasoning for decisions.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Strong work ethic required, including the ability to complete duties on time, consistently arrive at work on time as scheduled, and ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed. 

Physical Abilities

  • Must be able to regularly talk, hear, and operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Occasionally lift, pull/push, and carry up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting.
  • Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
