Job Description

The Commercial Loan Processor II prepares complex commercial loan documentation packages with nominal oversight. This position also assists lenders by working directly with members, title companies and others; obtaining information necessary to complete the underwriting, closing, funding, and monitoring collateral of commercial loans. 

Principal Accountabilities
Loan Documentation, Filings and Closings

  • Accurately documents complex commercial loan packages through the utilization of STCU’s automated software program verifying accuracy of input and documents produced.  Manually prepare documents as needed. 
  • Ensure correct combination of documents will be prepared/received for each transaction to secure legal interests of the credit union.
  • Review all loan documentation and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory agency, and policy requirements.  Provides technical advice, explaining the possible ramifications of the deficiencies and resolves those issues before processing the loan documents.
  • Maintain orderly, thorough and accurate information on current business members, commercial loan files in process and potential business members.
  • Coordinate loan closings directly with the title companies and or loan officers
  • Order title policies, open escrow, when appropriate, flood and tax tracking on new loans.
  • Prepare loan tickler items necessary to complete loan files and updates tickler system to reflect new or completed items.
  • Perform dual control by checking the loan servicing system maintenance reports to confirm that the information on the system represents the signed documents and accurate loan data.

Support/Servicing/Fees

  • Provide commercial lending and business services staff with prompt, timely, and accurate information as needed to support business member relationships and the overall goals of the department/credit union.
  • Monitor the pending list for final documents/title policies and follow-up in a timely manner.
  • Board loans and process payments/loan disbursements and provide operational support on the loan servicing system.  
  • Input accurate reminders for follow up on UCC, deeds of trust, final title, certificate of good standing and insurance monitoring.
  • Scan loan documentation and accurately categorize each document in the OnBase system.  Implement new titles as needed for various documents used.
  • Prepare, edit and proof weekly and monthly loan change and maintenance reports.
     

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High school graduate or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years residential real estate processing/document preparation/closing experience required. Five or more years commercial loan processing experience preferred. 
  • High level of proficiency with Laser Pro or equivalent commercial documentation software is preferred.
  • Strong credit, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • General knowledge of credit union/financial services.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel. Aptitude for learning new software programs. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required, including maintaining positive relationships and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work group, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and prioritize and manage competing demands.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret data and understand and communicate complex and diverse information. 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations exercising flexibility and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to make practical and timely decisions and explain reasoning for decisions.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Strong work ethic required, including the ability to complete duties on time, consistently arrive at work on time as scheduled, and ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.  

Physical Abilities

  • Must be able to regularly talk, hear, see and operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Occasionally lift, pull/push, and carry up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting.
  • Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
