Job Description

We are looking for an Accessibility Developer (Front End) focused on creating digital products that are usable by people of all abilities and disabilities. This position involves ensuring compliance with accessibility standards such as WCAG-A & WCAG-AA, while also advocating for inclusive design practices within development teams. This Accessibility Developer works closely with designers, developers, and product managers to integrate accessibility into the product lifecycle.

What is this all about? 

  •  Conduct accessibility audits of websites, applications, and digital content. 
  •  Ensure compliance with WCAG-A & WCAG-AA, and other accessibility standards. 
  • Collaborate with designers, developers, and content creators to address accessibility issues. 
  • Implement accessible solutions using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc 
  •  Provide recommendations for improving accessibility and user experience. 
  •  Conduct manual and automated accessibility testing. 
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest accessibility trends and best practices. 
  •  Advocate for accessibility within the organization. 
  •  Create and maintain documentation related to accessibility efforts. 
  • Train and mentor team members on accessibility principles and techniques. 
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure accessibility standards are met. 
  •  Develop and maintain accessibility guidelines and checklists. 
  •  Work with third-party vendors to ensure their products meet accessibility requirements. 
  • Monitor and report on the accessibility status of digital products. 
  •  Assist in the development of accessibility policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Who are you? 

  • Bachelor´s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar academic background .
  • 5+ years of experience in web development with a focus on accessibility.
  • Solid experience with HTLM/ HTML5 / CSS3 / JS / CSS, JavaScript frameworks Preact/ React.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in the following tools:

                  -DEQUE (mandatory)

                  -Axe Dev Tools

                  - Wave

                 -Google Lighthouse

                 -Storybook Accessibility tab

                 -VoiceOver Mac Utility

                 -Monsido (optional, but ideal)

  •  Experience with assistive technologies such as screen readers, keyboard navigation, and voice recognition software.
  •  Familiarity with WCAG, ADA, and other accessibility standards.
  •  Experience with automated accessibility testing tools.
  • Advanced understanding of User Experience/Usability.

Skills & Behaviours 

  •  Used to work in fluent English, in multicultural and international environment. 
  •  Leadership mindset experienced mentoring and/or providing guidance to other developers, small teams, etc. 
  • Proven experience working with Agile methodologies (Ceremonies, springs etc).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cross-device support and cross-browser issues. 
  •  Used to liaising with internal and external stakeholders. 
  •  Customer-service oriented mentality. 
  •  Accuracy, reliability & vigilant attention to detail. 
  • Good understanding of User Experience/Usability concepts, eCommerce & Digital Experiences.
