Job Description

Commercial & Project Co-Ordinator

SOCOTEC is looking for a proactive and client-focused Commercial & Project Co-Ordinator to join our Building Risk and Compliance (BRAC) team in London. In this role, you will manage the full client and project journey from first enquiry through to final close-out, acting as the central point of coordination between clients, consultants and management.

You will be the responsive, knowledgeable voice our clients speak to, coordinating enquiries, proposals, commercial follow-up, project set-up, administration, invoicing and document control. This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who enjoys building relationships, staying organised under pressure, and ensuring that every BRAC project is accurately tracked and governed from start to finish.

The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage inbound enquiries, confirming client scope and timescales, and coordinating technical input and fee proposals with consultants and managers
  • Issue proposals within agreed timescales, maintain the live pipeline, and proactively follow up outstanding quotes
  • Build strong client relationships, acting as a knowledgeable point of contact and identifying cross-selling opportunities for other SOCOTEC services
  • Track and report on enquiries, proposals, conversion rates and appointment value, supporting client meetings and site visits where appropriate
  • Coordinate bespoke appointments, contracts and NDAs, escalating contractual risk and negotiation points for management approval
  • Accurately set up new projects in the Project Software on instruction, coordinating consultant allocation and issuing the required briefing information
  • Raise mobilisation and milestone invoices in line with the agreed fee schedule, and maintain the live project tracker to monitor programme and flag delays or risks
  • Act as the primary administrative contact for projects, managing day-to-day queries, chasing information and escalating technical matters to consultants
  • Coordinate meetings, site visits and key project milestones
  • Maintain complete, auditable project records and document control from enquiry through to close-out, in line with SOCOTEC QA and governance requirements
  • Coordinate the Completion Letter, final invoice and project archiving following consultant confirmation of technical completion
  • Identify and escalate commercial, contractual and operational risks, ensuring they are documented and communicated promptly
  • Support commercial performance reviews by extracting, collating and preparing accurate reports on project performance, revenue, invoicing, WIP and pipeline
  • Provide wider administrative support to the BRAC team, including supporting Integrated Management System (IMS) records, procedures, audits and compliance documentation
  • Attend management meetings as required, contribute to pipeline/business development reporting, and provide administrative cover during peak periods or absence
  • Commit to ongoing professional development in line with business requirements

Qualifications

To be a successful Building Regulations & Compliance Consultant, you should be able to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a client-facing, commercial, or business development role within a construction, engineering, or professional services consultancy
  • A genuine interest in, and ability to learn, the technical context of the services being sold
  • A confident and credible communicator, comfortable managing client conversations at all levels, including with architects, developers, contractors and client-side project managers
  • Commercially aware, with an understanding of fee structures, proposal writing, and the factors that influence a client's decision to instruct
  • Commercially minded, able to build rapport, understand client needs and support compelling proposals without overcommitting
  • Self-motivated and tenacious in following up enquiries and proposals while maintaining professional client relationships
  • Highly organised, able to prioritise proposals, follow-ups, live project administration and documentation
  • A collaborative team player who works closely with consultants and supports effective project handover
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Desirable

  • A working knowledge of the building regulations or building control process
  • A recognised qualification or accreditation in Business Administration, Sales, or a related discipline
  • CRM or pipeline management experience
