Job Description
Your role
As the Safeguarding and Inclusion Advisor, you are responsible for SNV’s global ethical standards and safeguarding procedures. You will promote DEI through safeguarding and GESI policies and ways of working and collaborate with teams to meet donor needs, ensuring accessible policies. You will lead sensitive and timely investigations of safeguarding concerns, triage incident reports with part-time (country-based) investigators, and maintain detailed records while providing regular updates to senior management and potential external stakeholders.
Your role is to engage senior management and train and mentor focal persons on risks and first response, develop and deliver safeguarding training and build organizational capacity. You will provide guidance to teams on safeguarding risks in program design and implementation, and act as the focal point for all safeguarding inquiries and concerns. Next to this you will, with other SNV teams, develop and integrate DEI into awareness and training practices as well as team effectiveness programs.
In this pivotal role you will enhance current practices through continuous improvement and develop DEI initiatives and increase leadership awareness to the topic. You will elevate the Community of Practice’s visibility and develop impactful communication campaigns and tools that highlight DEI initiatives. Prioritizing safeguarding in fragile and conflict-affected states (FCAS) and promoting DEI across the organization are key. You’ll lead efforts to address bias and scale these initiatives across the organisation.
Qualifications
Your background
We are seeking a safeguarding professional with a bachelor's or master's degree and over 5 years of experience in NGOs or humanitarian context. You will leverage your DEI/GESI expertise to lead investigations, design training programs and navigate legal frameworks.
You have in-depth knowledge of safeguarding best practices, including child protection, vulnerable adults and PSEAH. Your commitment to safeguarding and proven track record of handling sensitive issues are essential to the role. Desired is to have experience in conflict-affected or high-risk environments and a strong understanding of CHS and IASC guidelines.
Fluency in English is required, French and/or Portuguese is a plus.
