Cambodia is vulnerable to climate change. Future climate change will impact the agricultural sector and the maize sub-sector in particular. Adaptation to such climate change will be needed. SNV aims to increase the climate resilience of female farmers and their involvement in the maize farming sector through farmer training, improving productivity, their climate resilience and market linkages.

    Job Description

    • Conduct a technical assessment of current maize production practices in 2 provinces, identify common mistakes and potential improvements in productivity and climate resilience.
    • Perform a training needs assessment with a sample of the 2000 targeted farmers in 2 provinces (50% female farmers minimum).
    • Develop training material and curriculum related to climate resilience and climate adaptation of maize production, understanding of the maize value chain and market linkages, maintenance of farm equipment.
    • Provide 3 training of trainers to field staff on maize production best practices, climate adaptation of maize production, and market linkages.
    • Coach field staff and support monitoring of farmer adoption rates.
    • Report about progress (training outputs).

    Qualifications

    • A University degree in agronomy, combined with relevant professional experience.
    • Minimum of 5 years' experience of implementing and supervising training programs to smallholder farmers.
    • Proven experience of agronomic curriculum development for climate resilience.
    • Proven experience of developing and delivering training programs for women farmers.
    • Proven experience and familiarity with maize production in Cambodia.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Khmer
