About SNV and Agroforestry

SNV Cambodia is currently developing a program on restoring lands and livelihoods in Cambodia. The program aims to restore degraded agricultural and forest land, and strengthen the targeted ecosystems with increased carbon storage capability, whilst improving the livelihood of households through tree establishment (planting or assisted natural regeneration). The program will promote appropriate agroforestry and tree plantations-based approaches to restore trees, strengthen ecosystems and increase carbon storage in the landscape, and generate high value commodities for commercialisation by the participating households. The programme has a target of establishing a minimum 6,7 million trees in 5 years. The trees would need to be kept for a minimum of 30 years. Shorter rotations of trees would need to be compensated by increasing the tree numbers.

Objectives of the Assignment

In the program, the to-be-planted trees could produce different tree products which would need to be marketed to provide farmers’ income (for example soft- and hard-wood like Timber, Roundwood, Woodchips, Fruits, Nuts and Rubber). The consultant is requested to analyse the technical and financial feasibility of the programme and provide advise accordingly (plantation species composition and planting options, profitability analysis for smallholders, market demand, cost analysis of the project to reach the target).

In addition, the consultant will do a review of the technical proposal and re-write the proposal to improve it where needed.

    Job Description

    • Analyse the technical and financial feasibility of the programme and advise accordingly including plantation species composition and planting options, profitability analysis for smallholders, market demandfinancial  solution model such as result based payments/repayable grants etc, cost analysis of the project to reach the target;
