 Project Overview: 

SNV in partnership with Consortium Partners (Save the Children, Mercy Corps and TechnoServe) is implementing a “Livelihoods Improvement for Women and Youth (LI-WAY) project in Addis Ababa with financial support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). The overall objective of the programme is to contribute to sustainable poverty reduction, improved gender relations and social stability in Addis Ababa. Specifically, the programme aims to improve the livelihoods of 200,000 poor people, of whom at least 50% are women and 75% young people, by increasing incomes and improving access to economic opportunities in Addis Ababa.

SNV is seeking experienced and professional applicants for the position of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Advisor for LIWAY Project in SNV Country office, Addis Ababa.

Job Description

The Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) will provide technical assistance on gender integration and gender transformative programming and develop staff and institutional capacity in gender integration. 

The GESI advisor will be one of key staff who supports and stir up for identifying/selection of gender and social inclusive market systems to enhance equitable economic opportunities, provide guidance for standalone or integrated gender analysis of the selected market systems/intervention areas

The Job holder is expected to undertake a gender analysis in order to effectively mainstream gender into the design of the interventions in the four market systems of the LIWAY project.

Advisory Services:·Develop relevant GESI tools for the LIWAY program portfolio and ensure their application in intervention development, facilitation process, partners selection and results measurement processes.

Knowledge Development:·Contributes to internal and external knowledge development, ensures lessons learned are shared and applied in daily practice and may be appointed as (national) focal point of an expertise network.

Project and process development Identifies and proposes technical process improvements to the project team.

People Management Steers (functionally) colleagues and coach’s consortium partners/ external stakeholders on quality within the context of assignments.

Positioning:·Identifies and analyses market opportunities and threats and ensures relevant colleagues are informed. Actively participates in strategic positioning meetings and acts as a knowledgeable face of the SNV organisation to the client.

Business Development:.Builds, maintains and utilises relationships with relevant stakeholders, represents SNV and identifies opportunities for Business Development policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education

Master’s degree in Gender studies, social studies, social works or any related fields with practical experience in mainstreaming gender, women economic empowerment and social inclusion in market system development or value chains.

Experience

.At least 7 years direct experience in gender and social inclusion. 

·Experience in conducting gender analysis, development of gender transformative intervention projects with strong private system engagement

·First-hand experience in LIWAY priority systems Micro and Small Enterprise (MSE), Labour system, Medium and Large Enterprises (MLE), and Skills systems is added value.

Contract duration

The position is offered based on a National contract for a term of 1 year with possible extension.
