Job Description

General Purpose:

Quality Assurance Technician performs inspections, testing, and sampling activities to ensure that material/products comply with required specifications, drawings/print and other applicable quality requirements. QA Technician assists quality and other departments with problem resolution.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs quality inspection of components received from vendors against company standards.
  • Performs inspections of assemblies from production to ensure they meet requirements.
  • Verifies pump assemblies meet documented requirements for export compliance.
  • Maintains precision measuring instruments and ensure proper calibration.
  • Verifies production is following proper procedures during assembly.
  • Refer quality problems to vendors, manufacturing and engineering as appropriate and follows through to complete resolution.
  • Maintains quality records as they relate to all components and equipment checks.
  • Report on trends and findings during quality inspections.
  • Evaluate customer returns for root cause of failure and provide feedback to engineering.
  • Compile product documentation for each pump assembly prior to shipment to customer.
  • Collaborate with various departments to upkeep existing documents and create new quality documents.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and skills of basic metrology, GD&T.
  • Experience using calipers, bores gauges, micrometers, hardness testers, and gauge calibration.
  • Proficient and capable of reading & understanding prints/drawings and specifications.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of quality management systems documentation.
  • Mechanical, hydraulic, plumbing, pneumatic, and electronic skills a plus.
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities. 
  • Independent judgment to analyze and solve technical problems and work independently. 
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Interpersonal relationship skills.  Written and oral communication skills.
  • Keyboard skills and familiarity with Windows based software. 
  • Must be mechanically inclined and have the ability to read and build from blueprints and various schematics.
  • Current driver’s license.

Education/Experience and/or Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience with quality inspection in a metal manufacturing environment or machining experience
  • Combination of experience or education/certification
  • Autocad and Solidworks experience a plus.
  • Certification in non-destructive testing a plus
