Job Description

To provide technical assistance and support for the SPA Applications Engineering Team in support of our customer expectations and SPA’s Corporate Mission and Goals.  Primary responsibility to review project intent and technical specifications, establish initial equipment layout, feasibility studies, perform reach studies and simulations as required.  This Engineer will need to concurrently manage multiple projects to support the engineering departments and its internal customers to achieve successful on-time completion of projects.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Interdepartmental interface for obtaining information and aiding Engineering as needed to start, then guide projects from proposal concept to working engineering solution all executed within required project timing
  • Determine initial equipment layout and robot placements
  • Coordinate math data, downloads, conversion and storage of that data
  • Develop, modify and/or complete robotic reach studies and simulations
  • Obtain vision training and experience needed to support applications with vision requirements (Fanuc, Keyence, Cognix, etc).
  • Help support/develop new processes and technologies
  • Help in identifying project risks and challenges
  • Support in reviewing project specifications and helping to meet their requirements in the engineering phase
  • Understand, identify, and contribute to providing safe robust solutions
  • Understand and participate in safety standards and risk assessments
  • Assess cost and timing impact of “ECN’s” (Engineering Change Notice) as necessary
  • Provide technical sales support as needed by working with internal and external customers to successfully meet project requirements
  • Collaborate with customers and colleagues exhibiting self-motivation, honesty, integrity, and enthusiasm
  • Maintain a “Whatever it takes” attitude toward successful job completion

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing) or a minimum of ten (10) years Engineering related experience with Robotic Systems.
  • 2+ years off-line programming experience utilizing Fanuc robots TrimPRO (Roboguide) preferred
  • Efficient use of computer and software preferred, (Roboguide, Solidworks, Autocad)
  • Working knowledge of Controls and Pneumatics as related to Robotic Systems
  • Self-motivated and driven to meet challenging goals.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Manufacturing background a plus

  • Some travel may be required
