Job Description

The Finance Controller - APS acts as a senior business partner towards the APS General Manager and Management team to drive business and financial objectives and interacting daily with the local team. The Controller will assist in formulating and implementing business strategy to meet financial performance objectives. The Controller will also be responsible for all accounting functions and policies for its greater Houston, TX operations and work closely with its Operations and Manufacturing teams.

Overall responsibilities:

  • Be the financial leader for APS segment that includes operations in Texas, Western Canada and throughout the Americas
  • Manage all accounting matters, including monthly closing, inventory job costing, accounting operations (AP, billing, invoicing)
  • Understand all parts of the P&L and owns preparing budgets, financial projections and performing analysis of all aspects of the business
  • Ensure business unit profitability through pricing and mix, manufacturing operations and operating expense optimization
  • Identify leakages in revenue, gross margin, and operating expenses and pro-actively comes with proposals to solve
  • Actively challenge Pricing/Revenue Management and lead Cost control initiatives to improve margins considering (raw material) cost and developments
  • Drive business productivity and operating expense management
  • Proactively monitor business unit cash flow and support activities to maximize working capital efficiency
  • Drive monthly performance against target and strategy and take pro-active measures, if required. Challenge assumptions and performance against market conditions. Formulate and actively drive commercial results growth, risks and opportunities and closing the gap actions
  • Benchmark and challenge performance versus competition

 

Qualifications

Experience Requirements

  • At least 7+ years of relevant work experience in Finance and Controllership
  • Business partner skills and result oriented, in addition has a practical understanding of ERP and Finance systems
  • Has a stable view and has strengths to challenge local management to achieve financial targets on short as well as on longer term
  • Excellent analytical skills and able to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to see the big picture and to dive into the details
  • Strong people management and interpersonal and communication skills, ability to drive (cultural and organizational) change across different finance pillars
  • Strong personality, ability to challenge senior management also on tactical decision preparation
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or distribution preferred
  • Preference for experience in Six Sigma or Lean
