Job Description

Job Summary:

Reporting into the Chief Product office, the Director of NPI is the owner and leader of the company’s new product development and launch process, providing hands on project management leadership, ensuring products are delivered on schedule and meeting requirements.

The Director of NPI manages engineering project work across SHAPE, primarily focused on Ultra High Pressure technology and products.  SHAPE uses a structured stage gate process, enabling team members across all functions necessary to effectively take a product from concept through market analysis and business case, design, and validation, into production.  The Director of NPI is the business owner of the company’s stage gate process.

The successful candidate will bring a combination of both strategic and tactical skills and will have the ability to contribute to SHAPE’s evolution and growth.  The candidate will be outstanding at leading and working in both team and matrix organizations, and will bring a track record of achieving measured results under aggressive time constraints in ways that enable successful commercial product launches.

Responsibilities:

  • Deeply experienced Project Manager. An ability to thrive and generate high quality deliverables in a challenging, results-oriented, fast-paced environment.

  • The candidate will have a proven track record of setting direction and establishing and meeting delivery schedules with initiative, energy and drive.

  • Technical by background, has a strong business perspective that thrives on addressing market opportunities and driving the team accordingly.

  • Excellent leadership skills and the ability to attract, motivate, train, and lead world-class team members of all disciplines in achieving shared goals.

  • Business owner of the New Product introduction stage gate process for the company.  Personally provide project management leadership to multiple cross functional projects and teams developing and launching new products.

  • Work with teams in global geographies, engineering teams in North America and Asia and with internal and external Operations sites in North America, Korea and Europe.

  • Manage and own Project budgets, plans and spend.  Experienced with technical project revenue projections, investment return analysis, commercial launch strategy development, BOM cost management, and cost management and reduction programs.

  • Maintain project status at all times, transparent with schedules, deliverables and issues, provides regular status to executive management team, and to all involved in projects.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Skill Required:

  • Technical degree, BS minimum

  • 10yrs or more of engineering management and technical project management experience in an industry that introduces new products, explores new markets and works globally

  • Demonstrated leadership, business judgement, and decision making skills.

  • Outstanding communication skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in an engineering leadership role with an emphasis on bringing new products to market and addressing new and emerging markets

  • Strong general business knowledge and strong commercial execution experience

  • Strong knowledge of compliance, quality and safety

  • Excellent teamwork, leadership, relationship building, mentoring, training, and project management experience and skills.

  • Balance of strategic and tactical thinking skills.

  • Ability to work comfortably within a fast paced and matrix organization.

  • Results-oriented with a positive, professional attitude and a sense of urgency to get things done.
