Job Description

General Purpose:

Provides complex issue resolution, support for a broad range of IT related issues including systems, computing hardware and peripherals.  Also installs software releases and system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches, and resolves problems related to core business applications.  

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all Service Desk calls or requests receive fast and effective response.

  • Identified problems are completely resolved through root cause analysis.

  • Create and maintain User Accounts and Security Group provisioning in an Active Directory environment.

  • Serve as an escalation point for service desk personal.

  • Workstation setup and provisioning.

  • Assists with patches and updates for operating systems and applications using SCCM.

  • Optimize the setup and provisioning processes used for equipment rollout and distribution to end users.

  • Drive a consistent set of standards for equipment, configuration, software licensing and operational procedures.

  • Provision and support mobile devices, telephones, printers and variety of other technologies.

  • Monitor infrastructure processes using a variety of IT tools (SCOM, SolarWinds, and Spotlight).

  • Assist with the design, configuration, operation, and usage of Microsoft’s System Center

  • Assist with user training and support activities as necessary to ensure successful adoption of software systems.

  • Maintain accurate inventory and inventory controls for all hardware and software assets.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven experience in a complex networked environment, including but not limited to desktops, servers, storage operating systems, business applications, telephony (including VOIP), wireless, mobile devices and related appliances/peripherals.

  • Solid working level knowledge with Microsoft System Center Suite ( Operations Manager, Configuration Manager)

  • Expertise with Microsoft Technologies including current desktop and server operating systems, Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, Skype for Business, System Center Data Center (SCOM, SCCM SCSM, Orchestrator), DNS, DHCP, VPN and Direct Access.

  • Ability to effectively write PowerShell scripts or other scripting languages (Batch, VBScript, Python)

  • Ability to create and script software installation packages using SCCM.

  • Experience supporting line of business applications in a manufacturing environment is a plus (ERP, CRM, HRIS, CAD, PDM/PLM)

  • Experience performing support to remote users and systems using tools like RDP, Skype for Business and tools like TeamViewer.

Education and/or Training:

  • BS Degree in area of specialty is desired or equivalent work experience with minimum 5 years experience.

  • Industry recognized technical certifications a plus.
