Reporting to the VP of Advanced Systems Sales, the Business Development Manager - Advanced Systems is responsible for providing a deep understanding of capital equipment requirements in the Aerospace industry in the US West Coast region and identifying key sales opportunities for SHAPE. Must be well connected in the global aerospace industry.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain detailed understanding of the Aerospace industry related to capital equipment purchasing.
Must provide insight on key customer targets, primary competition, barriers to entry, technology drivers, purchasing behavior, organizational structure including, customer needs, regulatory drivers, and economic trends.
Drive sales of advanced systems across SHAPE with primary focus on Aquarese systems. Advanced systems defined as systems having a level impact on the customer part production process and where SHAPE can sell value. Ideally providing a specific service or solving a specific customer problem. One where SHAPE can sell a solution and engage the customer in entire life-cycle (process development, pilot production, systems sale, and aftermarket with service contract).
Provide insight on vertical business opportunities and associated technical requirements and business targets to feed business justification and ultimately product development.
Monitor competing technologies and assist developing appropriate response strategies are formulated and implemented.
Deliver new insights, working closely with R&D, engineering, and sales and marketing to ensure new business opportunity targets are met.
Additional duties may be assigned, as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Deep connections in the Aerospace manufacturing industry.
Ability to grow and maintain strong customer relationships at all levels.
Must be highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
Strong phone and listening skills.
Excellent follow up and problem solving skills.
Ability to multi-task in a high-volume environment and is results oriented.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Thrive in a team environment.
Must be proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word).
Education/Experience and/or Training:
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in an Engineering-related field, but Business Administration and other programs will also be considered) or alternative combinations of education and experience.
5+ years of relevant experience with business development or sales / marketing in a related industry.
