Job Description

This is a first shift position

SUMMARY

Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose and (CNC) Numerical Control machines and parts by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to read, write and edit CNC programs.

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to
    determine specifications and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of
    operations and set up requirements

  • Measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work
    piece as guides for subsequent
    machining.

  • Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories
    and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders and
    shapers.

  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant
    flow, depth and angle of cut or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit
    computerized machine control media.

  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance
    machining and adjusts machine controls or control medial as required.

  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications

  • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data

  • Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines and equipment, and tests
    operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.

  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers or others to resolve
    machining or assembly problems.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • High school graduate or equivalent training.

  • Minimum of five (5) years machine operations experience and/or enrollment
    and completion of apprentice program.

  • Ability to hold tolerance of +/- .001 or better

  • Must have own basic measuring tools

  • Must be self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Ability to run 2 machines when needed.

  • Willingness to work overtime each week (8-10 hours)

  • Okuma experience a plus
